…on my new Denso radiator. (What did you think I was talking about?!?)

Received from Rock Auto, nipples were poking through the box and stapled box lid completely opened. I think it’s probably okay but concerned about possible cracks or other long term issues. Should I just send it, or go back to Rock Auto? Thoughts?

I understand your concern, you could pressure test it to confirm no issues. If you are not in a rush, maybe call rockauto and see if they can send you another. But, it may arrive in same or worse condition.

Back to RockAuto. Carrier needs to pay for the damages. No point in you risking this on such an expensive investment. Sounds like someone saw the damage, tried to open the box to verify, and ... there you have it.

Order a new one immediately, then return that one for a refund after the new one arrives and you verify it's GTG.

Just order a new one. Happened to me last year, they sent me a new one and told me to keep the old one.

    The Dude cannot abide…

Nobody wants those nipples pointing toward the ground. If you try to bend them back to their normal erect position, they are going to leak and cause you problems. Take that thing back and get yourself one that wasn’t mistreated.

Pretty obvious that @Elkhunter was your delivery driver.

Might want to make sure you and your 30 neighbors mailboxes are all in 1 piece too.

I thought this might be a nipple clamp issue but I guess I’m wrong. Carry on.

I agree send it back but poor packaging is not the carriers fault. What is protecting the nipple? Nothing.

You're assuming it didn't come out when the package was mishandled/opened by the carrier. This is the first time in a couple of years I've seen a radiator from RA get damaged. They have a rock solid reputation. I suspect this was carrier foul play.

I mean those packages are on 2 plus 53 ft cargo trailers slammed full. It’s not all that difficult for the staples to open on their own. There’s nothing covering the nipple as it’s sitting flush to the packaging. Of course it’s going to get roughed up in transit

I feel like most of the radiators I've had shipped to me came with foam blocks or cardboard stadoffs, and it appears there are none here. I'm thinking it was taken out or fell out. I swear the guys at the warehouses local to ATL like to build obstacle courses with packges, with the way some look when they get here. Looking like the package got caught up in an elephant stampede, no way something would survive it.

When I had a damaged Denso radiator sent to me by Amazon, it was poorly packaged twice. The first time the foam blocks inside moved around since they weren’t taped down so naturally the nipple was bent when the package bounced around in transport. The second time I got lucky because even though the blocks moved around inside, UPS didn’t physically damage the item inside like they did the box.

I blame Amazon for not double boxing it since those Denso boxes are meant for storage or movement on a pallet, not individually shipped.

Thankfully, Amazon acknowledged the issue and sent me that 2nd Denso radiator while I returned the first one.
