I didn't even know this was a thing. Wet noodle is definitely a good description for mine as well. I'll have to look up this PHM seatbelt cleaning...

Scored a scAmazon warehouse deal on a knock off 2nd gen swing case.

I opted for the passenger side to help counteract the "Toyota Lean" towards the drivers side. The only mod I did was to flatten out the latch support some so that it would meet the bump in the bedside of my DC. I did have to remove the tie down loop in the corner as it made contact with the box. I will have to find an alternative since I do use the bed to haul things.
    PXL_20240417_174012045.1.jpg

The upper hole of the latch support isn't flush to the bump on the bedside, so I'd like to devise a spacer where the missing fastener is.
    PXL_20240417_174106008.1.jpg

The box sits nice and level.
    PXL_20240417_174027067.1.jpg

I have two tool rolls, a recovery strap, d-rings and tie downs in here.
    PXL_20240417_174048131.1.jpg

...and I noticed I have a rusty tailgate cable that needs attention:annoyed:

I'm not looking to dispute anything PHM said, just adding to it. If your seatbelts aren't filthy, you don't need to clean them to get it sliding smoothly, all you need to do is silicone-spray-up the slide ring.

I specifically use either of these products, which may be the same as PHM shows, I've had these cans for probably 10-20 years and have used them for belt stuff (treadmill, seat belt, any time a belt needs to slide across metal or plastic).

    upload_2024-4-17_16-11-27.png
I was overdue myself on a re-treat, so I took pics when I did it just now, this is how I'm doing. Those sprays are specifically go-to for lubricating things that needs other stuff to slide over, and it'll dry to the touch perfectly clear if you give it time. Makes everything shiny. We used it for detailing before IASCA events, which is the first time I ever came across the stuff. I believe the can on the right above may be one of the original cans from way back when? I had a gaggle of them that ended up in my cars while working at the shop.

I take the seat belt, pull it out, loop both ends around the headrest to keep them up and out of the way like this, then clean any gunk off that may be jamming things up.

    upload_2024-4-17_16-17-17.png
Then spray a light coating of silicone spray over this entire area as you see below ... rub it all over with a finger, let it soak for 60 seconds, then unwrap the belt and slide it back and forth thru the ring. It won't improve your seat belt appearance, but it will drastically improve how good it slides through the ring. Not talking out of my ass here, I just did it, and the seat belt ZZZZZOOOOOPPPs right up, 3x-4x faster than it was. And I did a piss poor job of cleaning the gunk off it.

This is a little deceiving as the nose is a bit downhill, but not bad squat for an 1100 pound load- 20 bags of ready mix. Sumo springs

Replaced the PCV valve, pcv valve hose, and clips. PCV valve still moved (shook) pretty well but figured due to age it wouldn't be bad to change out the hose, clips, valve, and grommet. Had slight oil in the hose and the PCV valve wasn't dirty at 104k miles. Wasn't bad, only took about 10 minutes.

Do you have the hose part number handy? Mine is cracking and may be the cause of a slight oil leak in the area.

Your 2005 PCV (screw in) will be slightly different than his 2001 (press in). The hose is also a slightly different size and connects to a different location; Intake for the 2005 and Throttle Body for the 2001.

My oil pressure sensor had been on the fritz for awhile... then it totally stopped working.
    PXL_1.jpg

Seeing no oil pressure was concerning, so I ordered up a new Toyota sensor from PartSouq/Dubai and installed it.
    PXL_2.jpg

Now, that is what I expect to see from a warmed up 2UZ

I knew mine was screw in, I just pulled the hose yesterday to inspect pcv and thought that it connected about the same place, but I didn’t think about diameter, thanks.

That’s a nice clean engine, clean aluminium looks much better than my plastic. I have oil caked on that drivers PVC side, thought it might be from the valve, but on closer inspection maybe I have a valve cover leak? Going to clean it and wait.

Does anyone else get bothered by the black oil residue behind the butterfly? Everything is kept so clean after the air filter and then once inside the manifold we just dump unburned oil Vapor’s that coats everything in a sticky black film.

I pulled my throttle body and carefully cleaned it off the truck, then reached inside and wiped what I could on the manifold.

Dad laid a nugget on me once. Block the rad, drive around with as much load as possible, get the heads & pistons hot hot, then spray the seafoam or berrymans or chemtool. And have the stuff chilled. When it starts to choke bring the engine up past peak tq & let it ride for a min or so. Makes sense, done it to a few vehicles. Prolly do it on the truck eventually. After my next trip to houston i'll see how much damage a freshly oiled k&n has done over the last 10k.

    Nope. Only the in-tank filter.

My coworker traded his 04 DC for an 08 DC because of the terrible gas mileage on the 04. He says he is getting about 17.6 on the 08.

You know if you bump it up to 11.0:1 CR, you too could see 17.8 mpgs. Make those forged internals and toss 10 to 12 psi at it and super cruise highway at like almost 20 I bet. Not to mention wootootoo Chinese spinny boi noise

So maybe it's because I'm a little 'tarded, but the PHM seatbelt post reads like he sprayed the seatbelt webbing itself with silicone spray? If so that gives me the heebie jeebies.

I spend a lot of time trusting softgoods with my life while climbing and in that world gear is retired if you have any doubt about its strength of usable life. Even a 10% bleach disinfectant solution has been shown to reduce the minimum breaking strength of nylon webbing by 50% or more. Just some food for thought.

I need to do some seatbelt maintenance and will be following the @shifty` gospel of targeted lubrication to the lower mech's and upper slider.
