I have a 2019 with the TRD dual exhaust. I'm not super into the look of the dual exhaust pipes with the chrome tips. I would prefer to go with a standard single pipe with no special tip (two to one conversion after the muffler). Has anyone done this? Did it have any effect on performance or sound? Thanks for the help.

Sorry, don't understand what your saying :monocle:

The TRD exhaust looks super sweet and I lucked out with my used Tundra having it and the TRD rear swaybar from the day it left the dealer lot new.
It's also just the right amount of loud/cool sounding without being annoying or to loud, imho.
    :crapstorm:

Exhaust sounds will change anytime you change your exhaust configuration, no exceptions.
TRD exhaust was probably listed as worth some tiny amount of HP gain like 5-15hp

I had the single pipe in my 16. When I traded it for the 21, I had the dealer install the TRD dual exhaust, BIG difference in sound. But just like the gentleman above said, just loud enough to where it’s not annoying or obnoxious. I was very happy and cheesing my whole way home. I do t know how I didn’t do it in my first truck and I would never go back. Just my 2 cents.

Currently it has two pipes after the muffler. What I'd like to do is do a conversion at that point from two pipes to one pipe, and have it exit out of the passenger rear side, like most trucks do. I agree, I love the sound, but just a personal preference about the look of the dual exhaust with chrome tips.

Yeah, I'm just curious if I went with a single pipe (after the muffler) instead of the duals, if it would sound a lot different. I love the sound, so I'd plan to keep the muffler, but am just hoping to go from the duals to a single rear pipe. The sound of the TRD exhaust is awesome.

I actually have the single exhaust going out the passenger side that came stock in my truck. I literally only had it on for two weeks until TRD arrived at the dealer. I don’t know if that might make things easier for you.

He's saying he wants to mod the TRD dual exhaust, to make is a single tip on the passenger side by remerging the dual pipes together, not change the whole thing to the stock exhaust.
He doesn't like the dual chrome tips behind each rear wheel.

I'm sure what you want can be done by any good custom muffler shop.
How it will sound, likely nobody knows, but it will not sound the same guaranteed.
At the very least your removing sound from the drives side of the truck with that side exhaust going by by.

Do what makes you happy but as you can see most of us couldn't live with doing that lol.

The true divorced duals is what gives the TRD exhaust its trademark sound. I added a crossover pipe before the mufflers on a TRD exhaust I used to have and it completely changed the tone. I suspect merging the pipes after the mufflers would have a similar effect. You may be better off copying the magnaflow setup and have an exhaust shop reroute the drivers side tailpipe to run alongside the passenger tailpipe and have both exit behind the passenger rear tire. You keep the divorced duals which should keep the same sound and kind of get the look you want.

Yeah, sounds like I'm in the minority here lol.

I've always been into "de-accessorizing" my trucks, but I may need to stick with this one if I want to keep that sound.

    Thanks man.

Why not just run both pipes out the passenger side with the two tips. Keep the sound, change the look. Skip the recollecting the duals into a single pipe.

Can the chrome tips on the TRD exhaust be removed?

Dual exhaust from stainless works. I would have gone the TRD exhaust route just wanted something different.

    How do you like it?
I have the Stainlessworks long tube headers and I've been thinking about getting their exhaust. Debating between L or R.

I love it better than the stock setup. I think it’s a good balance of sound without being annoying loud. If I knew someone who could install the headers I would consider it. I have bad luck with people saying oh I can do that, and then do a crap job.

No, I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do yet. I'm concerned about it changing the sound in a negative way. As of now, I'm leaning towards removing the chrome tips or having them painted black (since the rest of the chrome on the truck has been removed).
