    Hello everyone,
I really like the older model Tundras. I found a 2007(SR5 4.7 V8) model that's in excellent condition, inside and out but it has 147k miles on it. I am considering purchasing it. Based on my research, toyotas are very reliable automobiles, but do you think buying it with 147k miles would be a wise choice or is it to risky?
    Thanks in advance

Welcome! I don't think that buying a Toyota with 147k is a bad idea at all. With the 4.7, I believe that the timing chain needs replacement every 120kish miles, so I would definitely check with the current owner for some service records to be sure.

4.7 is a timing belt. Definitely has a mileage limit for replacement. It's not something to do unless you are confident.
But those are truly one of the longest lasting motors in the world, and compete only with Toyota Diesels for longevity.
There are so many bolts on the engine when you remove them for goodness sake remember to put the same bolt
back in the same location. Very subtle differences in lengths and it bit me on the ass when I did mine, we had to
go back thru a bunch to sort out our error when I did mine. But it's the smoothest running V8 on the planet.

I have a Sequoia with 246k on it. Don’t be scared of mileage if everything else checks out.

I have a 2007 4.7L if the timing belt hasn’t been done change it out, consider also replacing the water pump which is behind the timing belt it would be a bitch if you changed out the timing belt and the water pump fails, I just change out the water pump with every timing belt replacement whether it needs it or not. I have replaced the timing belt 2x with about 100-120k miles on each one they were both in good condition when I did Toyota recommends every 90k miles which I think is overkill I would also replace fluids ( diffs, transmission and power steering and transfer case if you have 4 wheel drive I would assume none of the maintenance was done

Spark Plugs should also be done every 100k miles when I have done mine the plugs were all in decent shape

Bought my pickup with 186000 miles. Changed my timing belt and water pump at 188000 miles. It was all original in there. Water pump leaking badly. The Belt was way past due. The job is long and a bit tedious but very doable in your driveway with basic hand tools. Take pictures as you go and follow along with Timmy the Toolman on youtube.
