I did a garage remodel (all new cabinets) a little while ago... I'll be damned if I can find anything now... Don't remember where I put things ...

    Nice job

Spent all day organizing the house. Three boxes filled for donation this weekend and a little more clarity in my "garage." I am currently using my patio as a garage and trying not to spend money to organize it since I will be building a shop in the next couple of years. Sucks to keep stacking and unstacking... Sore now, but feeling accomplished.

It's on the wall to the right. It's a fridge/freezer combo. Next on the list is a fun safe and deep freezer. We want to go in on a half cow and whole pig.

Decided to do a little test in the driveway. Checking to watch wash out and see if this helps strengthen the ground. That said, I am mostly excited to reduce some bugs and sand from coming inside. Took a break from house work to actually work, so here is the progress so far.

Yeah that's why I labeled all the containers. I always end up putting things where I think it's a great idea and then forget where I put them. The shelf above still need to be organized better. It's beach and camping gear. That's for another day.

Edit: also have a couple small unfinished projects that I need to finish next week. Our weekends get full so quickly.

Stock, with a few cosmetic mods.
Hours and hours of power washing the house, patio pavers, walkways, etc. If it’s not raining, we’re power washing. Luckily my ocd wife is into it. I set her up, and go about something else. There she goes now while I sit and check in with you guys…

Finished today's yard work. Lots of heat but thankful for the breeze. Already less sand going into the house!

This week's project. Goon spooned 2 cu yards of dirt from 2 garden boxes and moved it to a corner of the yard. Broke down the boxes and took them to a friend's house. Levelled the dirt and prepped the ground to build a shed.

The Woman commented on how much more space the yard has and how well the fire pit and seating area would go in that spot. Fuck, she's right. Priced out sod, will pick up on my next days off and relocate the fire pit. Relocated the compost bin.

Pivoted and decided to put the shed alongside the house. Spent 3 hours goon spooning through hard packed dirt and clay to dig out where the skid base will go.

    I hurt.

Had some scrap metal laying around, built a wood rack out of it. Quick coat of paint and let the wood splitting begin! Don't think it's all gonna fit though...anyone want some mesquite wood? LOL
BTW, this is for cooking..I live in the desert we don't use wood for heat around here :tumbleweed:

Priority interrupt on my projects...we have a wall of redtips. They were a privacy wall, solid branches/leaves all the way to the ground, but a couple started dropping leaves bad. We determined it's a fungus which will kill them. We haven't found any survival/saving them stories. So, trying something different...clearing the leaves out, undercutting the redtips to clear off the dead/dying branches and so the fungus can't get to the leavesPXL_20240509_223715017.jpg from the ground. We already see new growth at the top of the worst affected, so optimistic. We'll plant other things underneath to build the privacy back. Cutting branches, hauling them to back of the property, chipping them. Raking leaves off the bank away from them. I hurt.PXL_20240509_223712715.jpg

In the retaining walls and foundation rebuilds I have done I always dig a trench down below the wall grade about shoulder width. Then out in mesh covered drains going downhill and/or through the foundation/wall. Then backfill with 2-3” drain rock top to bottom. This is usually considered overkill but keeps soil and insects and plants well away from the walls and the drainage is excellent. Takes a long time for that much drain rock to fill in with dirt whereas normal french drains with only a small amount of rock will get filled with silt. Only putting drains with no rock means the water won’t actually get to the drains and won’t improve the situation.

Really happy with the post heavy rain result... but this camera angle makes it hard to believe I have dumped 6 yards out.... a long way to go still, but thankfully the shit is cheap

That's a great alternative if you can't grow grass there.
I had to get SESC (soil erosion sediment control) trained in our state a couple years ago.... some interesting stuff.
What's amazing is how much soil can be moved by rain drop impacts.

agree. The plan is to eventually do a gravel driveway. But, since it is over 1/2 mile long, I am in no hurry. So for now, I want to drop a mid thickness layer of cypress (local here) to help add nutrients back into the sandy soil and hopefully get rid of some of the sugar type attributes. There is a lot of hope in what I am doing, but the main thing for now is to reduce the amount of sand we track into the house before I drop $$$$$$$$ on the driveway in a couple years. I want to put the barn in first so I can tie it all together properly.

Actually it's a great alternative to amend the soil so you can grow grass. Once that mulch breaks down into the soil, it'll be loamy, and grass should be able to take root.

Thing is, down in FL, it seems like it takes forever to break down unless you pile it on top of itself, or hit it with a decomp accelerator.

Doing everything I can to be with my little ones as much as possible. Dropped my gym membership and invested into utilizing my garage space for workouts.

Installed a folding wall rack and laid down some stall mats after really realizing the squat and dumbell rack is the only place im at when I'm at the gym. Just gotta set up a TV for the beachbody workouts the wife prefers to do.
