How does having an unraked/leveled truck affect hauling in the bed or towing? Seems like it would have an adverse affect on what the vehicle was primarily built to do.

Do suvs get leveled? I hadn’t really heard of this when I had my 4Runner leveling seems all the rage on the tundra forum.

 

Are your tires rubbing your inner front fenders? I’m on a 285/70r18 and getting a descent rub on front drivers side frontside inner fender.

 

Levelling vehicles is very common. It must be new to you for whatever reason. Look it up on the internet. Dead level is fine for hauling and towing. Just get air bags. I have almost an inch of rake and it's fine when I tow and haul. This stuff has been explained multiple times. Use the search function on this site or google

 

Bilstein 6112 set @ 1.9” in the front and no lift in the rear. I have some rub in the front most driver side inner fender and can’t find a way to stop it from rubbing. Prefer not to add any additional lift. Boo.

Here is mine after 5100's on the middle setting.

 

What size tires were u able to fit with this level lift? I was thinking of keeping it simple like u with type of leveling with new shocks.

 

Right now I have 275/55/20 tires.

I plan on going up in size a little bit once these wear out.

 

Can't speak for Toyota's engineering teams, but they are generally trying to hit the middle of the distribution in terms of users, so they make trade-offs in all departments. One of those is obviously suspension, and while I agree the factory is probably fine, most of what you're seeing here is seen by some as an improvement (IE 5100, 6112, NOT spacers).

In fact, I ordered an aftermarket Bilstein setup for my truck as I wanted the build of the Platinum features with the suspension similar to a pro. Not just for "height" but for performance offroad such as heat dissipation and improved fade during high speed whoops. I will run mine 1" or so above stock to try and keep driveshaft angles and longevity but have improved on and offroad performance.

I can't be happier with the ride performance of the 6112s at 1.3" up front. IMO if you are spending the money (or time) to get have your front end ripped apart, and spending $100 to have it realigned, you might as well spend what amounts to a month of gas to upgrade the suspension more than just spacers. These are with BFG KO2 275/70R18s. It's a hair raked. Just looks and drives beautifully. No lift in the back. No regrets. A bit poorer, but a lot happier.

I went with 5100 in the front. Middle setting which is 2inches. Gives almost an inch of rake and rides way better than stock. Plus they are cheap. I installed mine in a morning.

It's way better than stock. More composed in high speed back roads and moderate trails. Will get 5100s for the rears soon. I will keep as is for now.

Zero issues after I pushed the front wheel well in neatly about 1/4"-1"!

 

Toyota does build them that way its called a TRDPRO

I can turn lock to lock just fine no rub at all really only in reverse at half lock and that’s only because I haven’t fully finished my BMC.
