Hopefully, when they perfect the manufacturing process of a solid state lithium battery, that won't be an issue anymore. I'd be itching to invest if someone pulls it off.

I’m going to see how far I can get trying to fit SSC2’s into the oval factory fog light location. We shall see how that goes. They seem like a decently similar form factor but I don’t have them yet.

I'm, like, juse a thin plastic tray to house the batteries. Adds less than a half ounce of weight. Heaven forbid someone should actually be able to service a battery.

I ended up having to go back to his house half an hour after I left because - Apple's awesome wisdom shining here once again - There's a thin non-stick metal shim they glue over the touchpad on this series, its the brown thing outlined in this picture. Turns out the battery was glued to that shim, and when the battery swole, it broke the adhesive holding it the non-stick shim to the chassis, so it came out with the battery. When I popped in the new battery, the adhesive was holding the touchpad into an always-clicked position because there was no non-stick shim between the battery and rear of touchpad. Had to pull the new batt again, reinstall the shim, reinstall the batt over it. Jeez man.

For what it's worth, if anyone else is interested in these OEM First Aid kits (like, now @FirstGenVol and @lsaami mention first aid kits for upcoming trip) Toyota's current part number for the kit with OEM bag is PT42000220, it goes for around $17 total, and even comes with PPE now :D

Direct link to the kit HERE so you can select your local participating dealership.

I'm a bit skeptical of the quality on this type of kit though. It's hard to tell from the pictures. Ever used an off brand Band-Aid? They come off after a few hours.

Personally, I like Adventure Medical Kits. That's what we keep in both vehicles.

None have as far as I have seen. TS never separated the face-lift, TT didn't either, infact TT never called it a second gen but just called it "Tundra". I'm curious if Tacoma will share the same fate soon.

The pro vs everybody else split was really funny.

No but someone should have told me that when I was going for an engineering degree, I was really getting a math degree along with it.

Leaving the type of batteries you find in very modern, thin form-factor mobile devices plugged in constantly even when at 100% charge is generally bad. They have a penchant for over-charge situations, despite most manufacturers' attempts to under-charge, trickle charge, etc.

Ideal situation, if you're not familiar with the type of battery is in your mobile device at least, is to charge fully and disconnect. I spent the first 15 years of my tech career managing thousands of laptops for a global company. We didn't see this with the old plastic-encased batteries, It started with the thin form-factor devices.

Really, it only seemed to happen with the thin "ultrabooks" that stayed docked 24/7/365 would be lucky to make it 18 months without the battery ballooning so bad the plastics would plump up and laptop wouldn't lay flat. We'd occasionally see it back in the day with Blackberries and other devices using the rectangle batteries.

Happens with phones too, good example, this iPhone 6s Plus. 1 year of use. No battery swelling w/normal all-day discharge, charge once at night. I put it on a charging dock in my shop for audio, where it was always fed a trickle of power. This is what it looked like after about 12 weeks - battery so swollen the screen was busting off.

24/7 charging is no bueno. PS - Apple replaced this phone. They wouldn't touch it. "Too dangerous to repair, risk of fire too high".

Burn it. Or take it back to the "mechanic" that did the work. Some people have no business taking other peoples money for work they know they can't handle. #hackjob
I vote burn it. The mechanic will likely never be able to fix it. Trying to undo someone else's disaster is a futile activity sometimes. It's likely your original surmission that the wrong harness is on the truck is correct. Harness swaps are fun and easy. Not. Easier to do before the engine goes in. If the truck wouldn't drive, I would not have accepted back from the mechanic or paid him for his "work".
