Yeah, from what I see it’s 3 lines and a Toyota.

Wow, OEM flaps are $87 each? That’s a lot for a piece of plastic.

Yes, that's them, so if you want to part with one lmk. And, yes, they're a little pricey for what they are.

If mine were purely an ORV I wouldn't run them. However, here in the desert at high speed the sand acts as an abrasive that would take the clear-coat off the rockers, etc., and I don't want that.

HAH....I've been SWAMPED at work and our impending move to the great NW....I have missed the board and all the people here and expect to be active again regularly, but probably not till after the new year....trying to move X-country between Thanksgiving and X-mas whilst trying to fit in a trip to see relatives in VA may not have been the smartest plan....:rofl::rofl:

    Thanks for thinking of me!

So I got my tracking from RA the other day. 3 seperate orders.

    Screenshot_20211117-122558_Gmail.jpg

The USPS crushed it, fedex is sucking ass.

I don't see either of the 2 fedex ones getting here when they said. Plus red says 2 different days. Green says today, but it's still in AR? USPS was a day early. Shit don't make sense.

I am a firm believer in USPS and their package handling. They still seem overall faster than UPS or FedEx as well as being the cheaper option.

Usps makes me go to town to pickup things that wont fit in the mailbox. Ups, Amazon, and fedex will leave it at my gate.

i dont know how people get the usps guy to leave their packages on top of the mailboxes, but he will. And every year around xmas stuff gets stolen. Ill pretend to stop and check the mail when i see cars that dont ‘belong’. Our neighborhood fb page gets spammed with pics of license plates, but i never hear of anything getting done about it.

But i like to leave my packages at the gate for 10 min or so to see if i can ‘catch’ someone following the delivery drivers, but no luck yet.

My new neighbor saw some guy going into the other neighbors yard, and stopped them and asked where they lived, they gave an address but my neighbor didn’t buy it and kept prodding. Haha it was the owner of the house checking on the dogs for the daughter.

I remember you saying you had some surgery a few days back but forgot what it was.

I think it was in the hydrolock thread. But too lazy to look it up.

Comment made me remember getting snipped a couple months back. Sac still hurts sometimes when I squeeze those last few drops out taking a piss. Damn doc was great with the cauterizing iron, but was far from a seamstress. Got snipped on Thursday afternoon. Outer stitches gave way Friday, about 90 minutes after his office closed for the weekend. They refused to re-stitch the outers, "too late for that!", told me I should've gone to the ER, "hey, at least the interior stitches held!"

5-7 day recovery of the wound turned into a 3 week ordeal.

And on other topics, dunno if anyone else got the notification, but apparently Diode Dynamics got hacked. Some foreign agent was intercepting credit card numbers passing through their website for quite a while.

If you bought anything from them during Labor Day or any other time between Sept 26 and Oct 27, and paid with anything except PayPal, be sure to watch your statements closely the next couple months closely. Holiday season upon us, they'll be re-using those CC# before you know it.

Anyone here into vintage bikes? Or know of a good resource that is?

I found this old thing hanging halfway out of our dumpster at work.

Figured I could throw some elbow grease and tires at it and have a cool cruiser my wife would ride around. I ended up saving all of the paint that I could and shooting it with 2 coats of lacquer for that “patina” look everyone goes for these days.

I’m pretty sure it’s a 65 Murray from what little info I can find. I’d really like to score a tank and headlight for it. Original pic for reference. Gives me some real wicked witch of the west vibes.

I do, but stick mostly in the 60s-80s range, road, race, or touring vs. cruiser, mountain or BMX. If you need more info, I recommend www.thecabe.com but just know, some folks in the vintage cycling world are a little biased against Murray and similar because, after the 60s/70s bike boom era, they were pumping out so much garbage...

Still, cool ride. Repack that bottom end, headset and hubs if you haven't already. Nothing will pit races and spindles like crusty old grease.

Sweet, thanks. I spent the better part of my teens riding bmx and tweaking on bikes so tearing it down to the frame was the very first thing I did. Was able to somehow get everything all greased up without losing a single bearing.

I always thought “barn find” cars were bullshit until this. It looks like this thing sat completely unmolested for about 50 years and then someone decided to move it outside for the last year or so. The only rust pitting I found was inside the rear wheel where you can tell someone put some kind of liquid in the tube. Everything else was surface and came off with 0000 steel wool. Also helps to live in West Texas.

Yeah, there's some money to be made there. One score a few years ago cost me $1k buy-in, but I grossed over $8k less than 6 months later without lifting a finger. Just gotta have a basic understanding of what you're looking at, what someone will pay for it, and how to market it right.

I also happen to enjoy riding (not in spandex), and they're small enough it's easy for them to pile up. My advice? Don't get started, or set a hard limit on how many you can have around at once and never deviate from that number. Trust me on this. I've spent several years trying to sell off everything and not even halfway there.

I was also a BMX kid from ages 8-12ish. Lots of dirt track, jumps, etc. After that, skateboarding consumed my life. No stranger to how to tear them down and build them up. There's a good business in it, especially since the pandemic, but you really need to have a small horde of tools and spare parts to really bank.

Oh - and BMX - super freaking hot market right now. Lots of people suddenly waxing nostalgic. I've seen $50 GT models from the 90s clearing $500 in recent months. It's damn absurd. I'd love an old 80s Haro freestyle or nice GT Performer, but looking at $1000+ for something like that these days.

Oh, and skip the steel wool. Use bronze wool. Steel wool leaves steel dust behind, which will make you rust faster. Bronze wool doesn't. You'd be shocked at how much overly soapy water and 0000 bronze wool will clean rust right on out of paint w/o damaging the paint. Naval Jelly is your friend. Oxalic acid baths too.

Man, my first real bike was a GT Performer. I think I got it for my 10th birthday which would have been around 95. All chrome, mags, skinwalls, gyro, laid back seat post, thread on pegs. Holy crap, you just dug up some memories. I’d give anything to have that bike back.

Look into a two sided locking mailbox. It's quite a bit bigger to accept larger boxes and you can't reach in when you open the front so people can't steal your stuff.
