Rant of the day:
Gas pumps
Can we not have to push so many buttons and go through so many options to buy some gas? Swipe your card, push your grade, start pumping. Rewards member? Car wash? Debit or credit? Zip code? Date of birth? Mothers maiden name? Where does it end!
Can we get a receipt printer a damn paper refill? What’s the point of paying outside, if I have to go inside to get the damn receipt? And why if I pay inside, do I have to know how much gas I’m buying up front?
Does the pump need a damn TV that blares useless info? The world is too noisy as it is. Let me sniff the fumes and pump my gas in peace.

Wait until they give you $0.05 off a gal/gas to watch a 1 minute infomercial beforehand. I can definitely see that happening.

 

I've actually complained to Speedway corporate several times about the station that's easiest for me to visit NEVER having paper in any of their printers.
I now either get gas at a different station or I take a picture of the pump to document the expense. **probably not a valid proof of purchase for expense reimbursement.

 

One of these days im gonna accidentally loop a rope around a screen playing an ad that cant be muted. But i try to stay away from ‘that’ side of town.

which is town. My closest gas station has the lever you lift at the nozzle, and they let me fill before i pay.

 

I'm surprised they can't email you a receipt on the spot or capture it to some rewards account. You know that lard ass isn't going to get out from behind the counter/booth to refill that paper.

 

Why do you need a receipt period, whereled peas

 

I’ve got a camera roll full of gas pump pictures for expense purposes. Ain’t nobody got time to go inside. I’ve got planes to catch

 

When i go to town, walk in and hand em a $10 for gas and have to go back in for change cause 100 miles might be $4.50 or $10+ depending on the road.

 

Need that receipt so someone else will pay for that gas.

 

Well if you ever get water in your gas, you'll appreciate having the receipt in case you ever need to prove you got your gas there.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I can't stand having to spend 2 minutes pushing yes or no buttons just to pump some gas.

I'll add some local flavor too. I don't use the car wash often, but twice now I agreed with the pump when it asked if I want the wash. When I pulled away from the pump and to the wash, I found it was down for weekly maintenance. Then I went inside and said give me my cash back, I'm not coming here for a wash in the next 10 days. Now the answer is no even if I will get a wash.

You'd think with all the technology available that setting would be disabled at the pumps while their machine is down. Or maybe they're malicious enough to know a lot of people will drive away thinking they'll get that wash they paid for later and they never do.

 

The worst is standing there waiting for the pump to start, then Looking back and realizing it’s asking you ANOTHER QUESTION to push a button for.

I think the next time i stop at a ‘stranger’ gas station im gonna go in and try to haggle gas prices.

“take off $.15 and i’ll dance a little jig.”

 

That, or the move where you already selected an octane but it didn't recognize your selection and you gotta go back to push it again.

Its all insult to injury for me with my truck because most pumps I have to stand there and hold them at just the right angle or they'll shut off. In my car or my wifes car I can set the pump and walk away, but not my truck.

 

Costco just redesigned their nozzles, last time I filled up when it auto shut off it launched out of the truck, now I have to stand there and hold it.

 

Is it bad I refuse to go to a gas station that doesn't have the handle catch so you don't have to hold the pump while pumping?

 

If my titan is less than 1/4 tank the vent doesnt work, so you’ve gotta trickle it in. Takes about 4 gallons after the fuel light before you can full throttle the nozzle. Really gives you time to contemplate your life choices while youre sitting there.

 

I wonder if my vent it just clogged then. Toyota did some sort of tsb on my gas filler right when I bought it.

 

Ah, you probably got the California-style pumps. My truck will not fill up without me holding the nozzle unless I fill up at stations with the old style pump that are on the Rez or out of state. With a little practice you can push in and turn the nozzle to the right and it might work for a few gallons without shutting off... @Darkness knows what I'm talking about.

 

The one time during 12 years of owning my truck I found a nozzle where I could set the pump and put the little clip on, I walked to the cab and when the pump was meant to stop it blasted out and sprayed gas all over my bed. It was like a moment right put of a Mr Bean episode.

 

Ok I've been meaning to tell someone about this(as if anyone cares). The Kenjo markets here in town will always offer $0.05 off if I join their fuel rewards program. All you have to do is hit yes and enter a random phone number. Been doing this for years with a different phone number each time. I always get my $0.05 off. Sorry to the random SOB's I'm signing up.

 

Shell stations in CA do this too. I used my own number and never saw any texts or anything. I'm gonna start using somebody else's number now.

I just ordered a few color chips from monstaliner. I'm going outside of the norm in my bed and starting to consider doing something really dumb like painting my GTI with it. The roof is peeling badly, maybe I'll sand it and hit it with 2k clear, or maybe just bed liner the thing. They have 2 colors that I could live with on it, "Just Stoned" or "D.O.A."

 

Not sure I would Monsta line a GTI. Unless your going rally with it. Maybe go with a standard black, gloss or matte on the peeling areas for a two tone? I’m Not a fan of the bedliner as paint for a whole vehicle. Just never turns out great. On a truck? Or trail rig? I guess. On a car? I would be tempted to wrap, or have it painted black. But it’s not my car, just my thoughts.

 

Why haven't they integrated slot machines with the pump? The state should subsidize this so you can both play and get $0.10 off/gal. while you wait.

 

I've had the idea if painting the roof and mirrors black for a while. I thought about going satin but it won't look good on silver. I thought about gloss black, maybe. I thought about metalic black, might look good but I never liked metalic black. We'll see. If I can get away with sanding down the clear and paint new clear coat over the paint that would work too.

A wrap isn't out of the question, I just don't have patience. I always hated putting grip tape on skateboards, I imagine wrapping a car is like doing that a hundred times.

 

Silver and black would look great together. You can get one of the budget paint places to do the roof and hood cheap I bet. Had a friend do his roof and hood color matched on an older mustang and it actually turned out pretty good. Only paid $500

 

Yeah same here. Kenjo chain of Shell stations. I also entered my phone number once and never got a text. Works for me!

 

Not a bad idea really, if its that cheap I'd be good with it.
