Is there a similar thread in the GEN 3 forum?

MTM is also known as the Panoramic View System. Unfortunately all 3rd Gen Tundras use the special connectors that are commercially unavailable. As soon as they are available, I’ll be building 3rd Gen FRAC Harnesses.

Could you build a camera system for the bed area? I believe the trucks equipped with PVS have a camera above the rear cab that looks into the bed.

Wondering is it possible to get the 360 camera top view option in the near future with the FRAC harness for 3rd gen. Not sure how hard that is to do with the OEM head unit or would it need to be done on an aftermarket one? I see they sell kits out there but definetly not a plug and play like yours is for 2nd gen.

The FRAC Harness already supports an additional camera by use of the Video Switch Module (VSM). This can be used to tie in a trailer rear cam or a bed cam. It will work with the Gen 3 FRAC installation as well. Just need those connectors!

Yes this could be done as well. I haven't looked into the specific hardware needed, but the FRAC could support this kind of feature.

I was going to inquire as well. I saw on the FRAC website that it references that the 2.5 Gen harness is compatible with some 22's without the 360-degree cams. My truck is a basic SR5 without MTM or any cameras (other than the backup cam).

Just want to confirm based on your comment above, you're saying all 3rd Gen Tundras use the same newer harness? Could it be used on some 22 models that haven't changed much, like the 4Runner, without the additional cams?

Thanks for being so responsive. It's nice to be able to converse directly with a vendor. It's such a rare thing nowadays. I (we) really appreciate it.

The FRAC Harness can be installed on 22+ models of the 4Runner, Tacoma, and some others without panoramic. Unfortunately all tundras use the new connectors regardless of which camera option is installed.

    Yep...

You'll just order w/the round rocker switches and drill small hole for them if you're not connecting to a SwitchPro or something similar

I have a 2021 Tundra. The harness below is labeled as the harness I need for the '21 model (my truck). My harness has an extra set or wires coming out of the harness bundle that are braided together, purple and yellow in color. Doesn't take a lot to confuse me, so I am thoroughly stumped. As if this weren't enough, the lead wire that connects to the camera wire is not like the same example as in the explanatory video. Any help is much appreciated. [IMG]

Those wires are for the backlight illumination if you got the OEM-looking switch.

Got it. Thanks. From the instal guide, the Yellow and Purple wires provide power to the OEM style rocker switch (which I plan on installing). I sincerely appreciate the help.

So after watching this thread for years I decided to get one. Just ordered it and it's Christmas present from my wife. I'm looking forward to the install.

Just confirmed your order in the morning batch. Should go out tomorrow. Since you've been around the forum for a while you probably know this already, but you can review all the installation instructions at https://www.fracharness.com/pages/installation-help. Let me know if you have any questions along the way.

By far the best customer service I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. Plus, an amazing product to boot.
Plus, if you post a question regarding install... Lou will respond (if someone else here doesn't beat him to it.)

So, just started looking at this, and I think it’s a great idea. Parking my truck is something I’m still getting used to.
But, I’ve installed one of the CarABC CarPlay units, which also connects through the factory harness. Anyone know if the two systems will happily coexist? Tried searching the forums but didn’t find any mention of it.
    Thanks!

The FRAC Harness is plug and play so it was designed to pass through all signals on the vehicle harness - even those not needed by the FRAC functions. This means as long as your other in-line devices are designed the same way (most are that I know of) they will coexist just fine.

20240116_135237.jpgSo I have a question for anyone who used the OEM switch. Where and which wires did you tap into for the illumination? It's been way too cold here to do the install. I'm just trying to have everything ready for when I get around to it.

    Thanks

For 2018-2021, these are the illumination circuits for the instrument panel switches (part of the taillight circuit). Pick whichever is convenient for you.
