Been thinking about this. How tall are you?

 

Payload, adding a Habitat campershell/tent and i tow atvs on a 16’ tandem axle trailer. Ride, wanted to retain plush ride and my experience with add a leafs doesnt do that. I plan to use the truck as an overlander.

6’3”. The original position didnt bother me but didnt feel right. It is much better now. I stumbled a bit at the price but do not regret it afterwards.

Installed 1 of my Alcans tonight, welded in a lateral support to the shackles. I am too old to be wrestling these stupid things in there by myself if anyone was wondering. Gained 2.5” more over my 2” blocks with just the leaf spring. Happy to see the truck with rake again. Passenger side misses the exhaust pipe too! Hopefully the drivers side does as well.

Alcan spring and shackle install complete. Truck squats 1/2” with trailer and teryx4 now. Was 3-4”. Springs gave me 2 1/2” over the 2” blocks so 4 1/2” total lift in rear. Gives me about 2” of rake. Much better than a little squat.

 

The body mount chop is set up to begin in the AM.

 

Looking good! Suspension is next on my list. After 3 days of logging roads up in the North Maine Woods my wife has signed off on the upgrade (TRD off-road Bilsteins in there now). Now I just need to find the $$$

 

BMC and Duraflaps installed. BMC took about 3 hours. Not as bad as I expected. Added the clearance i needed. Happy so far. 1 step closer. To what i dont know, but 1 step just the same…

Original trip to Cape Lookout got canned due to tropical storm. We were able to make it to Corolla beach for a beach ride though.

 

Got the FRAC installed today. I think the VIM bypass may have been worth the cost of admission.

 

I had to mount the camera off center because of my running lights behind the grill.

Changed differentials and transfer case fluids today. Installed driveshaft carrier bearing drop as well. Front diff and transfer case fluids looked great. Rear diff had shards. Hope they are just from break in.

 

Valhalla shields ordered today. 1/4 Aluminum bare

 

Started install of SSO Slimline bumper and Warn Zeon 10s winch tonight. Made good progress. Plastic cut out, new bumper mounted, winch mounted, started fabing a bracket to mount the solenoid to the left of the trans cooler.

 

Finished SSO Slimline bumper and Warn Zeon 10s install. Had to get Warn solenoid relocation kit and made a bracket to mount it behind grill on left side. For others looking at this combo: Free spool lever is extremely hard to reach. I have to go through access hole in top of grill and reach arm aaaallllllllllllll the way down to disconnect the clutch and then reach through the front access hole and push it back to engage the clutch. Platinum or not getting the light bar would have made this a non-issue. Other than that, i like the solenoid mounted behind grill with access hole cut into top of grill so hood must be open to access the solenoid. Will eventually wire in a dash switch, im sure.
Also adde Barnes 4x4 tapered washers to slider bolt that was exposed.

 

Installed some reverse lights last weekend.

 

Picked up some 1 1/4” square tube handrails from a building we will be demoing in the near future. Repurposing them as a frame for my fridge slide and cooking slide. Will also serve as a step up into my AT Habitat, one day, and a small table top if sitting in the bed with the tent up in the rain.

 

I was thinking about doing this on my truck, but with diode dynamics. How do you like the nilight?

 

For rear lights, i like them fine. Plenty bright enough for doing stuff in reverse and lighting up behind you. We will see how long they last. Im sure the DD would be better. I went from a Nilight front light bar to Heise and it is a big improvement. For the front, probably worth it. For the back??? Ehhhh????

Did you have any trouble cutting through the plastic cover and metal bumper?

 

No sir. I positioned them so that it was mostly plastic though. Cut with a sawzall bi metal blade.
