Manual used to be more fuel efficient. I think the 2000-2005 Corolla/2003-2007 Matrix was the first vehicle that I personally noticed got a more fuel efficient rating for the auto than the manual. But my dad still bought a manual anyway.

Yup, used to be. Now that it isn't most manufacturers are dropping it from USA models. Can't speak for anywhere else. Look at pickup trucks. To get a manual you have to special order, and some won't do them at all.

    1. Yeah, that truck was revolutionary, not only for the performance numbers but also for the long-term reliability. I mean, yours seems to still be going strong...
    2. I too would love a factory locker option.
    3. If I see 450/500 and Toyota longevity, I'll be extremely impressed. Others have the former; no one else has the latter.
    4. No complaints here, but I'm riding on the TRD Fox kit.

To me, a massively powerful truck that most people barely get 100-150k miles on before letting them go is lame.

Toyota is calling it a "world beater". You'd think this means it'll blow everyone away performance-wise. But if it just competes with the domestics' HP/torque/towing/payload/mpg numbers, AND is also capable of going 10-15 years and 300k+ miles with few to no issues, that's a home run in my book.

I'm really curious as to what Toyota has up their sleeves that we might yet be missing...

I just bought a 2021, i wanted the v8. Its the last old school truck. Not a fan of toyota putting cameras on the inside of vehicles as part of their next gen safty sense.

Looks like the 2022 TRD PRO color will be citrus metallic.

ETA: it’s actually going to be lime rush. Similar to this but maybe a bit more green.

Not running at idle saves a bunch when stopped, because at that time it’s 0mpg. Another poor mpg period is accelerating up to speed. Both those areas the hybrid helps with in city driving. Long highway halls the hybrid wont change much.

had to create an account to reply to this.

FWIW, I live in the Inland Empire in California. I also saw an all-black 18 wheeler in Ontario, CA with a Red Toyota sign on the trailer. Very high chance it was carrying a demo Tundra....possibly to John Elway toyota dealer in Ontario

Sorry, I have to ask. Yes, why would you order a 2021 Tundra? Honestly mine has been a good truck. But I would not want to go backwards. 13 mpg and 1600 lb payload?
