I'll be suprised if we don't see a leak or 2 or 10 since there were so many journalists onsite today. That would hold me over.

Do you even own a Tundra? Shows a 2018 and you trash talk them on every thread.

The Blackstone fluid results have consistently shown no damage to the fluid and no indication of transmission damage. You need to explain that....maybe you have a coworker's uncle who works at Blackstone that told you the tests are fake. Try that.

Now back to the 2022 Tundra thread and leave the transmission garbage to those threads.

Personal attacks are not welcome. Yes, I own a Tundra. But it is just transportation and I don’t keep my head in the sand when it comes to the current model. Yes, I’ve talked to Toyota employees and they would not purchase a 2021 Tundra. Guess they may know more than you and your biased opinions.

It’s going be three years for me to get a new truck. I’m looking into the Tundra, hopefully the 22. Currently driving a 15 Tacoma. Hopefully I’ll be able to give this to my son when he drives at 16.

This whole auto industry is just sad right now. I drove by some dealerships today and there’s no cars/trucks on any lot as everyone has probably seen. How many sales guys are just walking out looking for work with nothing to sell.

    Surprised this wasn't posted.

The TRD PRO Taco' doesn't just get new Metallic Mountain Dew paint, it get some new shocks and billet UCAs.

    https://www.thedrive.com/news/40884...A-fGqvtsimUpkSiqph85zsn7UTWy9v84buvNCMQN-VrBU

"Arguably the Tacoma range's hero model, the TRD Pro Taco sits on 2.5-inch, TRD-tuned Fox internal bypass shocks now with a taller lift: 1.5 inches higher up front and 0.5 inches higher in the rear. New TRD upper control arms made of machine-forged aluminum have been fitted to accompany the increased rebound stroke. As a result, the approach, departure, and breakover angles have been improved to 36.4, 24.7, and 26.6 degrees, respectively. These are up from the 2021 Tacoma TRD Pro's 35 degree approach angle, 23.9 degree departure angle, and 23.9 degree breakover angle. Total ground clearance comes in at 9.4 inches, which is actually the same as before."

This could be good for the Tundra. The Pro could be getting billet UCAs as well.

    It also gets Goodyear rubber.

Dealers of every brand are in panic mode right now. My wife loves her Subaru Forester and had an 18 with about 47k on it. We received a letter telling us she could upgrade to a 21 with a one step higher package then the one she has now, and a lower APR, which reduces her Monthly payments by almost $50.00 a Month. I had to read the thing like 3 times to be sure it wasn't a scam. She drives this thing like she stole it, and I told her that brakes and tires were going to be needed in the very near future, and to just do it. Picked it up Yesterday, and I have to admit this thing is pretty sweet. Brand new, full black leather, and upgraded everything, and a lower payment to boot, how can you say no to these deals?

3 years old…so what…a year or two at most from paid off. But $50 less a month yet the loan starts all over. Your financial logic is not unique. My buddy fell for that just a few weeks ago.

Except that you were already 2 or 3 years into it. So you're not saving $50 a month, you're paying somewhere between $1200 and $1800 more.

What exactly did I fall for? My wife gets a new car every 3-4 years anyway, this time she did 3 for a lower payment and a new rig at a lower APR, did you not understand what I posted?

Tell me how refinancing to a lower APR actually costs you more money for the same terms....I'm all ears.

Why care about the new Tundra until it proves something.

Currently I am towing my 7000ish lbs Travel trailer the last 5 days from GA to NM, CO, AZ and SW UT. Longest day was 15 hours towing. Two were 8 hour days and one 6 hour day. Try going 1100 miles in day with a 26 gallon gas tank ( or heaven forbid an EV) and a TT as heavy as your tow vehicle. In the mountains, averaging 10 to 11 mpgs, surprising because I only get about 8 mpgs towing the same setup east of the Mississippi and in Texas Hill country.

I passed a lot of F150s and Sierra/Silverado 1500s towing similar setups, so where is all that freaking power in the powerboost/ ecoboost, where is that ass-kicking 6.2L? I don't have a lead foot and drive pretty cautious. Passing other 1/2 tons with similar setups, it was like their owners were afraid that their engine of transmission would fall right onto the highway if they stressed it at all.

Thank god there were no RAM 1/2 tons towing anything comparable to my travel trailer. Plenty of 3/4 and 1 tons of all manufacturers were just chewing up the road, but this is a purely observational apples-to-apples comparison of 1/2 tons.

Going through Valley of the Gods in Utah, I passed a chick going the other way in a TRD PRO and she was letting it eat more than anyone else out there.

My point is this: "more HP, more Torque, higher payload, better fuel economy, more gears" all sounds good. But it is like picking a football team from the combine. It'll look great on paper, but probably suck in reality.

My pick is the proven performer. I'll wait and see what this new Tundra does, but it needs a track record beyond it's moniker before I'm truly interested.

    Boring day today:

Another lame underpowered soul crushing shit box crossover from Toyota. Seriously how many of these fucking things do we need?

Another tarted up soul crushing luxury crossover appliance from Lexus. I guess Lexus buyers will only buy a Lexus if it sits up higher than needed.

Then we have a warmed over Tacoma in a color no one will want on a set of shocks the enthusiast buyer will 50/50 replace anyway. The poor truck still needs another 50-70hp and 80-90lb-ft to not be a penalty box to drive. Oh well, enjoy the new color.

A mild update to the Toyota 86, which will only be slightly less slow and pathetic than before. Plus it still doesn’t look as good as the Subaru that it is.

Then the Toyota BMWra er I mean Z4.... fuck... I mean Supra. Gets some carbon fiber stickers and they finally admit it’s the exact same engine as the Z4 and always made 382hp. Also since it is a BMW it will fall apart, refuse to run, and drain the owner’s bank account 100 miles or 1 week after the warranty expires.

    Did I miss anything?

Good job Toyota, you sure as hell made your marketing department earn their money hyping up these boring ass “new” cars.

If you were 3 years into a 5 year loan, trading in and signing a new 5 year loan is spending money (3 more years worth of payments), not saving it. I think that’s what he was getting at anyway.

But if you are the kind of person who perpetually keeps a car payment, then yeah, why not take advantage of the market?

Very Diplomatic response, I commend you for that. My wife is in the heath care sector and drives a ton. Newer car, lower APR, same terms, and a lower Monthly payment. Its all good as far as I'm concerned.

I wouldn’t say you got screwed but I also wouldn’t say you came out unscathed. You just added more years to a loan.
What did you owe on the 18 and what did you get in trade?
Either way, if you’re fine always having a car payment then sure, why not?
