    That's a 2010-2013 front end.

This is the 2007-2009 frontend. The vent holes in the center bumper valance and the grill surround changed slightly for some reason in 2010. I'm almost sure that the image above is from an early 2nd gen now that I compare it this one.

Yep good catch. The holes are definitely the same but the skid plate does look different. Maybe it's aftermarket in the one picture. Even has the same indentations that i circled.

Looks like a 2nd Gen had “useless” tow hooks if that really is a 2007-2009

ya, I never understood why they bury them so much, any pull up at all and your tearing shit up. you have to pull down and perfectly horizontal. I would like if they would just put them on more on the front on the truck, but whatever.

Remote Connect - Which is where you can start, lock/unlock, and track your truck remotely through the app. It also gives you the ability to set nannies, like if my wife borrows my truck I like to set the max MPH to like 30 to mess with her.
Destination Assist - Which is where you can have someone from Toyota give you turn, by turn directions - probably don't need that if you've got a smart phone.
Safety Connect - Which is the automatic collision detection, and dispatch; along with the free roadside assistance and SOS button.

For me the only one I really want is the Remote Connect; It's nice to be about to start the truck from my phone when the remote wouldn't be able to reach it - especially with it being 100+ degrees out here right now, it's nice to show up to a cooled down truck. I also like that it notifies me if the truck is left unlocked for more than ten minutes; and I can lock it from wherever I am. Also convenient to unlock it remotely if someone needs to grab something and I'm not near the truck, or if I walk out to grab something and forget to grab my keys.

I don't think it's significantly easier to replace, but it also significantly limits any third party solutions. I still like it though - I agree that it feels like I can keep my eyes more on the road.

    I see, and understand.

the remote stuff you can do with aftermarket remote starts which is better anyways, but I understand not everyone like aftermarket.

For me personally, I would put audio quality and performance way over the distination and safety connect.

I added an amp, and two 10" subs to the existing system and it bangs harder than any system I've ever had while keeping the existing head unit. As far as getting aftermarket remote stuff - I'm not against it, but why pay for that when my truck already has it built in? I've always felt that adding a new system, over an existing one usually ends up creating issues.

cool glad you're happy with it, thats all that matters.

I don't want to start a debate about aftermarket audio, lol. but stock head unit signal and speakers doesn't cut it for me.

also, my platinum didn't come with remote start and other stuff so I had to add the viper, which is awesome 2 way system with a mile range, or the phone app stuff which I didn't add or want for now. One thing I do like, my truck doesn't shut off and I can tap it and remove the key with the truck still running to run into a store or whatever, works slick!

lets see what Toyota comes up with, we shouldn't have to pay to use the remote start though monthly, F-that.

Ah yes, I should have looked at what year your truck is. It doesn't even have the Toyota Connected Services - so what you're doing makes perfect sense.

I second the paying for the remote stuff though. That sucks. But I have to. I forget to lock my truck often enough I require something to nag and pester me to lock it. Oh well, better than getting all my kit nicked. Pay up or pay, pay up.

Same here, I'm carrying $100K+ worth of equipment in my truck at any given time - not worth risking it.

Isn’t this the supposed dealer reveal? No way Toyota will let the redesign be debuted through dealers. They’ll almost certainly require a non disclosure before they release information to them
