The only problem I've seen with the PB F-150 is the expectations of prospective buyers. So many people think that the hybrid system in that truck will assist with towing. I believe when you select tow mode the hybrid system goes offline. The hybrid on that truck is only suitable for improving unladen economy, it's too small of a system to help when towing.
Just like the EB F-150, the PB F-150 delivers worse mpgs than any equivalent V8 1/2 ton truck when towing heavy.

    Are you kidding, or serious?

The last video of his I tolerated was on a 2001 Solara V6 where he repeatedly called the accessory drive belt a "fan belt".

I tend to nod approvingly when anyone says he's an idiot.

I may have been exaggerating a bit, but honestly - he has a lot of good advice on his channel. His videos have definitely helped me more than once. I think to say his videos are "clickbait" does the man a disservice.

    Which is fine.

If you’re buying a 1/2 to tow heavy trailers on a regular basis, or haul heavy payloads on a regular basis you’re buying the wrong truck. The 1/2 ton pickup with a hybrid system and a forced induction smaller displacement engine makes more sense for the vast majority of 1/2 ton buyers than a less powerful V8 that consumes more fuel 99% of the time.

For the average owner the couple of hundred miles of towing or hauling near max payload per year where fuel economy is worse than the V8 alternative, but pulling power is better, is more than offset by the thousands of miles driven unloaded saving more fuel.

Again if frequent heavy towing is what the truck is going to see and you’re buying a 1/2 ton you are doing it wrong.

I'll give you that one ... always a splashy headline like "FORD GOING OUT OF BUSINESS" or "MY LAST VIDEO, YOUTUBE SHUTTING ME DOWN" etc. but I do find his videos entertaining and informative. His act is the excessive talking with his hands and the John Lennon sunglasses. He's definitely old school (not that there's anything wrong with that) but all in all I'd take his advice over a great deal of what's out there (and here).

And you wonder why Toyota didn’t have to update the Tundra for 14 years? Just read this thread.

Agreed. The 3/4 ton, gas or diesel, are made to tow all day every day. Personally, i wouldn’t tow more than 3/4 of the rating. Its just going to wear the truck out. I guess if I got a new truck every few years I wouldn’t worry about it. Just need to go up in truck size. JMO

I agree, leaving yourself a 25% margin of capacity is the safest route. Not only for not beating the heck out of the equipment but also your safety margin with that much weight on the bumper or in the bed.

If a guy is going to tow his near max weight camper out to the lake an hour away once a month in the summer, fine; go slow drive safely. Otherwise get a bigger truck if you simply have to go faster, further, or more frequently.

I like his videos but I think he does use clickbait titles to try to get more views. Like if a customer of his asks him to check out a Mercedes and he doesn't find any major issues, the title is going to say that Mercedes makes the best luxury car.

That's fair, I guess when I think of "Clickbait" I think of titles, and images that lead to a video/article that has absolutely no valuable information in it. His always seem to have some quality information.

Bottom line is that the Tundra is a safe Truck overall and was one of the top rated for safety until they changed the ratings and tests...

Uh huh, they call that progress. Also, It was never that safe, it was just equivalent to the other unsafe vehicles around it. The people in the other truck that you head on, could lose their legs too!

Probably right, there might be deliveries the last 2 weeks of December the way things are going for the automotive industry. So technically they’ll make Q4 2021.

I would be surprised if we will be able to see one on a dealer lot until early Q2 of 2022. They’ll be out there but mostly pre-orders sold before they even get off the car hauler. Then there will be another quarter or two of inventory catch up for dealers, who will have no motivation to deal on new Tundras (or anything else). You might be able to work a deal based on a desirable trade in, but those of us who will probably keep our old Tundra too won’t have much to bargain with.

If the optional rumored hybrid power train does in fact “blow us away” demand might be so high there’s no deals to be had for a long time. Especially if fuel prices continue to climb, and the hybrid delivers on the hype/speculation of both mileage and power.

It's not bad looking but these renderings never quite look like the final released product. The true reveal is when they are on the lots for sale.

Now this is just not true, they get about the same mpg when towing heavy. Who tows heavy, more than once a month, and doesn’t have a 3/4 ton?

this truck is a killer. Love it more than the tundras I had (2017 and 2019– both fully modded)

You drove 5mi in 15mins (20mph). If it works similar to a Toyota hybrid… you drove slow to prevent the engine cutting in and exhausted the battery while doing it. Why have a vehicle to go 20mph for 5 miles? I would have just rode one of the bikes.

Heavy towing or work truck use for all Tundras produced is probably <5% of the time. Toyota did there homework hence the low payload capacity.
