I saw a capstone tundra in the wild the other day. As stupid as I figured it was. Either you need a truck OR you get something with 22" wheels and white leather. But not both...

Not saying it should be banned or any crap like that. It's your money. You can do stupid all you want with your money. Hell, I've bought all kinds of different types of stupid and enjoyed all the stupid I bought. I'm just sayin' I don't understand this particular stupid. lol

I thought the prices on the sequoia were perfectly reasonable. Then I remembered you were talking USD, not Canadian. Then I threw up in my mouth a little. I'm glad I bought my 2020 tundra. At the similar trim level if bought today, I'd be able to buy a corolla. Prices now days...

This all just makes me even more happy I bought my 2021 Sequoia when I did and got her paid off!:D
I do like the look and all, but it kinda stings seeing the prices of these just keep being marked up.:(

the markup is absurd - there's no other way about it. I do sometimes wonder why they didn't offer a non-hybrid for at least a better entry price point (I do understand other reasons)

I'm between 1 of 3 reasons (maybe all).
    1. the extra weight of the sequoia is easier to be managed with a slightly more hp motor to make sure it doesn't seem like it's struggling.
    2. you're already buying an expensive vehicle, whats a little bit more to pay without the option
    3. there aren't a lot of sequoias built/sold each year, for mfg reasons, it may be more beneficial to only have 1 setup to build vs 2 options.
this is just my dumb, cajun mindset thinking out loud

    4. Toyota is only half-heartedly into the full size game anymore, and this was the easiest way to get one more MPG and to get the price point up to the rest of the class. Slop together a rear cargo area, and call it good.

I was really excited for this, but we will probably wind up with a 2G Sequoia or Lexus LX.

'23 X5 starts at 61k and the highest model start at 84k. No one gets one at base. Add 10-20k to those prices & the Sequoia similarly spec'd is at least 10k less. (all of these phone numbers are insane)

I had an X5 & loved it but it was smaller, less offroad capable & cost more to maintain than my 2013 Limited tree.

To be fair, every new vehicle in the class is going to cost more to maintain than a 2nd gen Sequoia. Those things are tanks.

This is true. Had them for 11 years. One has probably 215k on it. Zero mechanical failures on either of them. Literally nothing has ever gone out on them.

Tons of them are rolling in now. Keating got at least two in yesterday- a Capstone and a Limited. Neither were pre-sold. I’ve been contacted by multiple dealers this week looking to see if I was interested.
A salesman at Gullo told me yesterday that they got 4 allocated. They put them on their site once they were in transit, and it took 4 days for them to get reserved. That wasn’t the case with the Tundras, so I’m betting you’ll see them available on lots pretty soon.
The price, market for this type of vehicle, and the time of the year is probably going to make these easier to get and less prone to market adjustments. I’ve already been quoted two at MSRP.

An X7 is more comparable. Starts at 78K, and 103K for the bigger engine.

I would be very surprised if Keating was one of those that are selling at MSRP???:)

I just called Keating and was told that they are not discussing price over the phone but she did tell me they are not MSRP but not a 20k mark up!???? I do not think they will be coming down in price any time in the near future and the ones at MSRP what ever that is will be a needle in a haystack. It is a very messed up market and this time next year they will be a market adjustment that swings way to the benefit of the buyers.:) if people can hang on for six to eight months they might find deals out there? But who really knows?? It’s all a roll of the dice!!!

Question about the TRD Pro 23 Sequoia. I just got allocated one and it has the tow mirrors on which I don't want. The dealer told me that they only are making the TRD Pro Sequoia with the tow mirrors at this point. It didn't sound right to me. Any dealers or owners out there have any insight on this. Best bet will be to get them changed out.

Like lifetime all season floor mats, nitro filled tires, cat plate, and 5 year 70K maintenance for a grand total of $100,988.00

I just left the local dealer. It had 1 blue limited, but it was being driven off in. Looked slick. If the owners weren't in it, I would had been creeping it.

They look nice and my wife and I really wanted to like it, but for the life of me I don’t understand how the trunk is so small and even when you drop down the rear seats it’s not flat but a step. Was hoping it was going to be flat in the back, we can’t put a dog cage in the back because of it.

No, they were not. I asked what the price was on the Capstone. He replied “I think the sticker says in the mid 80’s”.

    1) I didn’t ask what the sticker said. I asked what the price was.
    2) You don’t “think” anything. You know damned well what that sticker says and what you’ve been told to sell it for.

That’s just code for “We’re trying to get a significant upcharge on it, but we don’t want to admit that up front. We’re hoping to get you in the building so you’ll fall in love with it and pay whatever we want you to.”

Did Keating used to be Toyota of Alvin? They were pretty shady the time I inquired with them about a Tundra a couple of years ago.

It’s because they put the battery under that spot. They’re all going to be that way going forward.

Yes used to be Alvin,, they changed hands and it was alright as far I know but then it changed again and I would not buy anything from them. They swarm on a person when you go in for service. I made friends with a salesman a long time ago and I just follow him around. Even so I have to call him out sometimes after all the business I have sent them!

As war machine said earlier, it's because of the battery for the hybrid system. You can use the tray in the cargo area to make the space flat.

Here is a good one I was just notified that a CT5V Blackwing was in the 6 speed manual which I would never have in Houston and the price was 95K with a 35K mark up!!!!!

Dealers wanting to make as much as they can while they can???

I called Tejas on Saturday just to see what they had and what they were doing on them.
    Capstone was plus 20k.
    Limited was plus 15k.

At least they were up front about it over the phone. Hardly anyone else will admit it over phone or email.
