Looks like you need to bend the rod.

Finally got mine done. Still need to do the raptor lights. I'm not sure if I just want to tap them into the running lights or run them off a relay triggered by the running lights.20220918_112110.jpg 20220918_112126.jpg

The plan is to color match it again ,when I get a new hood.

Dude, I have no idea why mine was so straight but bending the rod made it work!
Lmao. I've been having to snake my arm in the gap between the bumper and grill, grab the rod, and pull downward on it to release the hood. The lever has been completely useless. Thank you man!

I'm fairly certain you are correct. I ordered this today in Super White and will report back my findings once it's been delivered!

Been striking out on upgrading my grille. 1st placed an order with Sparks for the Sequoia 2020 grille.. only to get a cancellation email from them that's it's unavailable.

Then i found this lovely thread and placed another order with Sparks for the grille surround., Only to get ANOTHER email cancellation from them stating it's out of stock. Why sell a product when it's unavailable is frustrating. 2 for 2.. cancelled orders with Sparks.

Regardless found a black plastic surround grille in ebay which I'll paint along with the mesh grille in this thread. Much appreciated! Will post pics once installed... Unless I get another cancellation email lol.

I'm fairly local to Sparks (they're about 90 miles away) and I don't buy from them unless I need to. Their shipping is absolutely insane and they don't do any FREESHIP codes like most Toyota Parts dealers do. I bought a Rock Warrior grill/surround from McGeorge Toyota (I think it's somewhere in TN) that was factory painted to match my Super White for cheaper than Spark's had it listed. I got it about a week later, and with free shipping.

I ordered mine through McGeorge Toyota. Do you already have the 10-13 brackets?

edit: It depends on what color you have, but for super white this was the part number.

I saw the link to sparks for the xtra hardware and brackets. Was the surround expensive from OEM

I paid $170 shipped with a "FREESHIP" code for the 10-13 Rock Warrior grille painted to match from McGeorge.. That was March of 21 though, price might have gone up.

Talk about a pain in the ass. It seems that all Toyota dealers are backordered on this. I've had 2 orders cancelled. Nobody uses inventory levels on their websites.. its so annoying. I ended up buying through eBay a black grill that I'll attempt to paint. If you do find one in white or any other color for that matter, please quote me so I can buy as well!

I absolutely cannot see how this would decrease the value.

@Shanet421 you were right. Tacoma inserts are a perfect fit for the grille. This means you could save money and just buy the stickers to install over it, but I went ahead and spent the $50ish for the TacoVinyl one.

    4. Grill White.jpg

Edit: That being said, I ordered the product on September 19th and it just arrived a few minutes ago. I called the company a few days ago to ask when my order was going to ship and they were fairly nice and said "tomorrow!". Makes me wonder if I hadn't of contacted them were they ever going to get around to shipping it.
Shipping was $13.74, and then they make you add on another 98 cents to insure your package.

Overall, it cost $50.62 to change the letters from grey to white. To me, it's not worth it. I do enjoy the look quite a bit more, just not the price. If I was any good at laying vinyl decals I'd go that route. Here is a link to the taco vinyl site. You can find the stickers all over Amazon/ebay if you decide to go that route.

Wanted to thank @Rube207 for this thread. Was able to remove the previous owners gangsta grille.. it's so much better! Also thanks to OP's grille insert that I purchased, looks great. Should have that on in the morning!

Quick question.. how many of you installed the small rubber gasket with 3mm tape between the grille and hood? I put it on but it came right back up on the sides. You guys just leave it off?

Just installed yesterday, looks 10x better. Mine didn’t come with raptor lights or harness like everyone else, but I’m not bothered. And conveniently enough the Toyota logo matched the color of the truck. Also thanks @Rube207 for the insert, looks waaaay better than the faux sensor lol

They’re actually pretty good, I got them on Amazon for just over $60. Plenty bright and match the headlight color well

Do you have a direct link to them? I have halogen fogs that I'd like to upgrade to match my 5500K HID retrofit.
