The Firestone Des xT is intriguing to me due to its appearance and its weight. I believe it’s either *the* lightest (or very close to it) of the 3peaks with a somewhat decent looking sidewall. Priced very competitively too. The only drawback is well, it’s a Firestone. Not to say that things can’t change or improve but I’ve never had good experiences with them (on mine and my father’s torque monster F350 powerstroke 7.3L’s - neither could get a Firestone to wear properly. I eventually went Nitto, Dad went Goodyear).

That being said, about 5 years ago a relatively unknown tire made a pretty big splash on the off-road / all-terrain scene. Falken wildpeak. Anyone heard of it?

So if there are any Firestone Des XT guys out there, I’d love to hear/read your input/experience with the tires.

It would be interesting to make a chart of the top rated tires from the list and their various weights, tread depths, wear mileage, etc. in popular sizes for our trucks. A project for another day I suppose :)

Those last two don’t meet the minimum altitude to be classified as peaks, and thus cannot be counted. Perhaps they are indeed foothills.
