I highly recommend this cover, had it on my 2020 Tacoma and then for a year on my 22 Tundra DC. I would have it on my 23 Tundra but it came with the OEM (waiting to see what happens with the recall).

Running the 315/70/17 on stock suspension, you don't get any rub? Wondering if I should install my 315 tires now or wait until the lift. Don't want to mess up my liners.

I was running Cooper AT3 XLT 315/70/17 on stock suspension, it barely rubs. You only hear it rubbing if you have the radio off and wheels turned to the max. I took off the metal tabs behind the liners day 1 of owning the truck. It probably won’t rub at all if you pin back the liner

No rubbing issues at the front or back with 315/70R17 tires on +25 offset Method wheels. However the tire does button out on the fender under hard compression, when the truck takes a dive. So you do need some form of a lift to avoid this.

I got the Kings 2 days ago, and will be installing them this weekend.

Ehh. I say any performance boost is simply confirmation bias. I've run K&N filters off & on with various vehicles. I can't honestly say that I've ever felt any real performance gain.

With that out of the way, I'll say 2 things that I feel are true. 1 of them being an actual benefit:
    1. Anecdotal: People who've installed the TRD Performance Filters or K&N Filters (they are the same thing) have reported the "turbo whistle" is more pronounced after install because of the higher air flow. If that's something desireable to you, then there ya go.
    2. Actual Benefit: The filters are reusable and, if you maintain them correctly, will last the life of the truck. While it will take a long time to recoup the investment, they are a slightly cheaper and potentially "greener" solution in the very long run.
    My 2 cents.

Hey @Dirtdog . I ordered these anchors and started trying to put them on, until running into an issue with the bolts. After undoing the bolts from the bed, I could not detach the washer from the bolt. It seems like the washer was forced onto the threads during installation of the bolt. Did you happen to run into that issue with your install?

I can try banging off the washer with a hammer, but don't want to damage those bolt threads. I can try putting the bolts in the freezer for a couple of hours as well and see whether it'll come off.

    Yes, they make
Yes, they make them captive so that at the factory the operator only has one part to install and doesn't forget to install the washer. They just have a small metal set of ridges that you need to tap the washer over. You can do this with a large socket I used a 1 1/8" socket and it worked. But anything that will allow you to do this, piece of pipe exc. Some other guys have used a grinder to take the ridges off but this bolt is galvanized and doing this may take off more of the zinc coating. You could also use a vise and open it up just wide enough to pass the head of the bolt thru. This may tend to bend the washer however. The large socket works the best but it does take a very large socket. There are some youtube videos on this as well.

I got a Glator truck mat from RealTruck.com ($100 including shipping). I like having a mat to keep things from sliding around. This is particularly important for this truck since the bed is so slick. The fit is pretty good and the surface is very grippy. It goes around very close to the wheel wells. It also works with the d-ring tie downs that I added. You do have to pull back the mat to strap the wood down but there is at least enough room to do this. This is really the best solution that I can come up with for hauling plywood. With the gen 2 Tundra you could strap it down to the bumper but with this truck the bumper is just a plastic cover.

I had made some vidoes doing each of these steps. I just put these out on youtube. I am not a youtuber so these are a bit rough but it shows you how I did it step by step. Below is the link for tapping out of the captive ring on the bolts.

I had ordered some Oedro tube side steps. They just happened to come in today so I installed them. It went pretty well. The only difficult part is that you have to hold the head of the bolts with a wrench on end that hold the side steps to the brackets. They go in that small gap between the upper tube and the lower tube. They could have made this easier by using carriage bolts since it is so difficult to get a wrench in there. Other than that they went together well. I wish Toyota would have made a more substantial mount for sidesteps by putting the threaded inserts into the frame. The weak link in any of the running boards or the sidesteps will be the tiny M8 bolts that are only about 1 1/2" apart on the lower body panel. The entire frame on the new truck is fabricated and they could have added the inserts here.

Love my Oedro's, they're one of my channel partners...I used an extension to hold those bolts in place while securing from the backside...I do agree they could have made it easier, but the extension helped for sure!...truck is looking good!

Thanks. I've watched a lot of your videos including your install of your Oedros. I'm impressed with the build quality. The welds look good and textured finish looks like it will be very heavy duty. The only part that was difficult was holding the head of the bolt. None of my sockets would fit between the tubes. Even so it was not too hard to hold them with the end of an open end wrench. Overall I like them and glad that I got them. I wish Toyota would have stepped it up a notch on the threaded inserts for the side step mounts. Two larger inserts spread further apart on the frame would have been better. Thanks again. Keep the good videos coming.

Agreed!...and thanks for checking out the videos, I appreciate it!...as much as I love my Oedro's I may swap to a set of sliders for the protection/sturdiness when off roading for that very reason

Thanks for linking the videos, it was helpful! Didn't realize those weren't regular threads but a captive washer. Used a sleeve kit to remove the washer. Very nice mod to the bed, will make plywood & drywall runs easier especially with a canopy.

Excellent. It's not too hard, anything to knock it past the tiny captive rings. These aren't used for anything but to hold the washer on at the factory. Glad it worked.

These d-rings are really needed now. There isn't even a metal bumper to stap to on the Gen3.

One thought that I had is that you could have your Oedros mounted like sliders. You can remove the four panel mount brackets and have a welder weld either square tube or U- channel over to the frame. The Oedros them selves seem beafy enough to serve as a slider they just need a better mount to the frame. This would also be cheaper than sliders.

    Here you go..

Installed this weekend. 2" lift up front with Kings (1-3/4 turns on top what came from King) and 1" at the rear with Dobinson C59-835V model-specific springs. Still have a tiny rake, which I prefer to allow for load.

I had the TRD UCA's, but ended up not installing them as the stock UCAs had more than enough clearance and aligned fine. The droop on these Tundras is not limited by the UCA; it is limited by the giant sway bar.

just watched the video on that install. pretty dam simple mod. only thing i could see improvement, a catch basin under that so if something falls in the holes its caught instead of dropping into a black hole of the center console.

edit: yeah good luck trying to leave a review/comment on his product page, gave up after going thru 10-15 captcha's

Agree, a catch basin would have been nice. On the other hand, you just have to be careful during the installation not to drop a screw. I don’t see what else can fall into the wholes afterwards in that location.

i am talking about after the install. down the road if someone puts something up there to not mount.

thats a lot of wires and electronics to leave wide open to anything.
