Alpine ILX-F511. Game Changer

I don’t know the size. Can only vouch for my specific one dropping in nicely.

 

So I have been seeing many posts on FB on all of the functions that this thing can do with the Maestro but they are all 2.5 gens. Do you know if I do use the maestro, can it pull some data from my ole 2007 Tundra or is it a big waste of money? I am seeing TPMS readings and engine gauges screens.

 

It should be able to pull the engine data, yes. TPMS… maybe. That’s been hit or miss, depending on year and trim.

 

Anyone have a 2nd Gen JBL amp laying around? Mine croaked a few days after the HU install lol

I tried all 3 today and they were all full price. The Alpines weren't available.

 

Did they check their phones or actually pull it up on the computer?

In my 07 I get TPMS data (both temp and pressure), gauges, CEL and door status (open/closed). Supposedly can also read/explain CEL codes but have not tried that yet.

Funny enough, my 07 Tundra has all this data but the wife's 2011 Tacoma will not do pretty much any of it with basically the same setup.

 

Finally got around to installing the Kenwood. Really happy with the setup!



Anyone have info on why the weather screen is not working?

 

Anyone know (by looking at it) why this wouldn't fit in the rear door of a Dbl Cab? It's the same size & mounting depth as others that Crutchfield recommends fitting in the rear doors but for some reason they don't list it when you pull up the rear door speakers selection for my truck.

I really wanted everything to be the same grade/brand and was going to go with those C1650 components for my front doors.

 

realistically, it's probably because they haven't checked the right box in their database somewhere. There's a ton of things that will work in these trucks that they don't show as "will fit" but that actually will work just fine.

 

That's kinda what I figured.

 

Why not the 650X? I’ve got them in the rear and C1 650 components in the front.

 

I think it was linked to their INRIX app and they discontinued it in January.

Anybody that use SXM (via antenna/tuner) know how to get rid of the pop up that asks to connect to data every time I go to use it?

"No, you cannot connect to my phone to stream SXM. The whole reason I have a tuner and pay for a subscription is so I don't have to tie my phone up to listen to music. Please stop asking"

Anyone with the f511 know if the camera functions work while driving or only when the truck is parked?

 

You can turn them on at any time.

 

Can't wait to try it out when I have the camper back there to take a peek every now and then.

 

I believe it’s got something to do with the Alpine built in Wi-Fi. The Kenwood doesn’t have it and I don’t get the stupid pop up on it. Another issue I’m having is my wife’s phone not connecting to wireless CarPlay any more. I think it also has something to do with the Wi-Fi. Freaking weird. Still better than the old Toyota radio though.

 

Did you change the wifi setting to connect to your home wifi or a hotspot or anything? I will definitely say that Alpine sucks for handling wireless connectivity, at least compared to Kenwood.

 

I don’t think so - I screwed it up when I was trying to hook up the XM. I disconnected her phone and it has only randomly connected since then. I may do a factory reset on the stereo and start from scratch.

 

Anyone got an extra one they wanna sell for the price they paid??
