I bought (and destroyed) a nut (did not check fitment) to see if I could bleach bath it and then paint it black.

It may have been this, 86396-16020 though instead of 86396-16010.

I have an entirely replacement antenna to install at some point, though I've already destroyed the old nut (more like it disintegrated).

Definitely not something I would recycle from a junkyard. I suspect some of the non-verified options will still fit, the threads are likely to be shared among many masts, powered or non powered, just a matter of the tool to set the nut in tight having 2 notches vs 4 on various styles for the most part?

TLDR: I think they are still out there but haven't done enough of a search since I still need to redo mine.

I think I might actually consider taking both fenders off and having them painted. One is a repaint from a minor impact and doesn't look great, figure if they come off that easily maybe good to do both of them on the cheap while I redo the antenna. Hmmm.

This thing is fairly noisy…any thoughts on how I can tone it down a bit?

You thinking you're catching noise off the longer run of the PVC, or something else?

Anything you do to add weight to the wall of something letting off noise should theoretically reduce sound. It's the general concept behind sound deadening, Dynamat/Noico/etc. panel deadening products. Add weight so the wall (metal) is heavier and less prone to vibration.

Maybe if you took some of that Flex Seal rattle can spray in black, and sprayed the PVC, you could get the black you want, and add weight to it, maybe reducing noise and sealing any gaps w/o using glue? I'd scuff-sand first.

Its the air suction when stepping on the gas pedal. Not too bad but when accelerating it’s noticeable. Freeway it can be noisy though there seems to be a sweet spot where it’s totally quiet.

I was thinking of taking the dash out and seeing if I can dynomate the engine wall.

Is the sound you're hearing similar to the hiss-suck sound you hear when a bank canister gets pulled up into a tube, or the initial hiss an airplane toilet makes when you flush it? If so, that's happened with nearly every aftermarket air intake I've ever installed. I'm not sure if you'll ever kill the sound inside the cab.

That said, save yourself some money. Noico 80mil is (or at least was) cheaper than Dynamat and just as effective. It's on scAmazon. Get a decent 2" roller to install. But more than anything, make sure your steering shaft seal is still good, it's a huge entry point for engine bay noise into the cab when it breaks down.
