Any 2023 owners received their second key fob?

We bought 2023 Tundra in August, was told second fob summer 2024. We then bought a 2024 Grand Highlander for my wife right after Labor Day & also got 1 fob. Was told to expect the second fob also summer 2024.
The GM plant where the Colorado & Canyon are built is 15 miles from my house. Several lots at the plant & in the surrounding areas are full of trucks that can’t be shipped because of the chip shortage. Right before the strike, tents started going up on these lots to install missing chips. Yes if a fob is lost we’re SOL. But I personally would rather take that chance & have a truck I can drive in the meantime.

 

Yeah, I just can't see it being a chip shortage. Has to be something else. The fob is probably the easiest chip of the whole vehicle to make. I also dont understand why Apple, Samsung, Motorola, etc dont have chip shortages for their phones. You name it, there is 99.99% chance it has a chip in it. I did a google search "are any vehicle manufacturing have a key fob shortage" 99% was all Toyota. Saw 1-3 on some Hondas.

 

You can fit any size tire.. if you're brave enough.

I’ll admit the GM thing doesn’t make a lot of sense. A family friend recently bought a Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss. Per the window sticker it was built without heated seats & steering wheel & without dynamic fuel management. He received a $50.00 credit for each. He did get 2 fobs though.

 

They really feel that heated seats and a heated steering wheel are only worth 50 bucks each?

Yeah I rather have a complete ride vs 2 keyfobs and a few extras that are part of the trip package missing.

 

Do we really need a separate thread just for 2024 models?

Can we merge this thread into the much longer one?

 

Something seems to have changed. It states that "return to 2 FOBS in Q4 2023 production" and clearly that hasn't been happening from the comments on this thread.

 

Fwiw, received the second FOB last week for my 2023 Tundra which had an in-service date of 02/23.

 

If the mods want to merge this with the other thread that is fine. The other thread is for 22 and 23 owners not 24 which is on a different timeline. So hence why I started the thread. No worries either way.

 

I just picked up my 24 tundra today with an 11/1/24 build date and came with one key fob.

 

Purchased 2023 Platinum Hybrid on 3-15-23 and received my second FOB on Friday 11-17-23. Eight month wait!

 

My '24 1794 was built in late August and picked up 10/2. One fob. No news.

 

Just got my letter to go get the second fob

 

Guess what I got today! Build 4/2023, purchase 7/2023, notice for 2nd Key fob today (Nov 21, 2023). I believe this is in line with the widely posted chart (4/2023 build date = Q42023 2nd fob). I am right at 5,000 miles too, so I will get the fob, tire rotation, E-Parking, and a few other items fixed when I go in.

 

2/23 build. Purchased 3/30/23. Just received the app notification for the second key.

 

Purchase date 3/23. I called Toyota corporate to ask about the fuel line recall. Still no solution. Asked about my Fob and was told yes and given my recall number. Called the dealer and they ordered my Fob. 2 Weeks later I went in for the Rodent Damage. Was told my Fob was in and they would program while it was in service. Fob letter just arrived. Still waiting on my truck to be repaired.

 

3/23 build date here. Notified yesterday to receive 2nd fob.

 

05/23 build date; purchased 06/09/23. Notified today to receive 2nd smart key fob.

3/23 build date 4/23 purchased.
Now if I can just get my heated steering.....oh wait that's those other guys lol

6/23 build date, 8/23 delivery, just got the same 2 alerts.

 

Just got notified 2nd FOB can be ordered, called and they said it maybe a day or two to get it in. Finally. Build date 5/23/23, bought and picked up 6/23/23, but that is the only service campaign it is showing, no recalls.

 

I have one AJT. May get a second one, however it seems like my range has been a bit shortened with this fob cover over the stock. Not sure, but will test before ordering a second one.

 

Got the alert today, booked an appointment for Friday.

 

I just got my second FOB today. 11 months after I took delivery of the truck.

App didn't even notify me (it does notify me for vehicle alerts), and I got the same-ish build/pick up dates as you so I checked. Ordered!

 

I got the notification today as well. Tomorrow will be 7 months to the day since I took delivery. Seems like Toyota are trying to get this behind them.

 

Im just glad the only thing we are waiting for is a second fob and not heated seats, steering wheels, parking sensors, and so on that the other guys did.

no thanks to a tech taking my shit apart to add all that.

I got the notice too now, I already have two fobs so now I'll have 3.

 

Took 8.5 months for me to get fob, it's all good.
