I don't use costco for tires or gas but it's still worth it for grocery savings in general, and basic household stuff. Vacuum sealer and a little chest freezer is what I use and buy in bulk when there's a sale.

Its also good for glasses, vitamins, giftcards and some appliances. I bought 6 packs of oil for 30 bucks a couple weeks ago so worth it.

Kirkland 0w-20 is hard to beat. And if you run a diesel like I have in previous trucks the 15-40 is hard to beat as well.

What is the dress code or etiquette, is it ok to wear pajamas, a velvet track suit or to just get out of bed and go directly to Costco like people do at Wal-Mart? o_O

I think, maybe, if you wear anything you bought at Costco, that’s probably admissible….

I bit the bullet and purchased a gold membership last evening. I was browsing online and already found a few decent deals. Their oil prices look pretty enticing and the reviews on it are good. I think the spousal unit and I are going to stop at the store this Saturday.

Yes, yes it is. Gas, oil, hotdogs, rotisserie chickens, chicken pot pies, almond danishes, the electronic deals they have are great, pork jerky, trail mix, clothes, vans sneakers for $25 a pair once or twice a year usually, BOTTOMLESS SAMPLES

Seriously, if you fill your gas tank while there and buy a rotisserie chicken a couple times a year, those savings alone pay for the membership.

Lol, now you get to have the unsolvable problem of how to walk out of there for less than $300 every time.

Oh, and if you drink, their Kirkland Vodka and Tequila is FANTASTIC for how cheap it is. Their wine prices and selection is also amazing.

I’ve heard the same - grey goose is my recollection with their lower tier vodka being absolut. The bourbon is supposedly relabeled Knob Creek and I don’t know who does the anejo tequila but it’s damn good too.

Sam's is just down the road from us and we use a CC that gives us 6% on gas purchases in Sam's store credit. Comes in handy when we do our twice a month store visit.

Love Costco. Great butcher section, best Rotisserie chicken around, sparkling water and pure cane sugar sodas at great case prices, awesome produce, consumer electronics, gas 15-20 cents cheaper than anywhere else, the list goes on… and I get enough in my annual rebate check to cover the cost of my membership renewal every year. So it’s a no-brainer for me.

I'll get the pizza on occasion, but here in SoCal I can get (or make) street taco's that are better and cheaper. I've never tried the meatloaf though, but I DO get instant mashed potatoes from Costco if that counts.
It is hard to believe, but all 3 of my kids don't like mashed potatoes!! What a crime...

This guy knows. We cook it for and hour then cut and turn the meatloaf for another 10 minutes.

Haven’t tried the Vodka or Tequila, but the bourbon is pretty gross. Have to mix it with coke. I’ve been trying to get rid of it and can’t seem to work up the courage to finish the bottle. My buddy thinks it’s not too bad, and simultaneously refuses to help me finish it. Also not that cheap. Shame.

I will re-add to this post as I forgot some things.

    My wife just went yesterday.

-Outdoor storage boxes/sheds (lifetime brand, all kinds of sizes/storage sheds)
    -Pool chlorine
    -Name beans Hellmans Mayo
-Costco brand wipes are the best
-Their diaper deals beat most (unless target offers a gift card)
    -Eggs
-Pizza to go (she always buys two, we freeze them by the slice. Works great for last minute/panic child meltdown food)
-Birthday cakes (not available at all of them, but if available they are fantastic)

I forget what other pointers she made (I was reading threads on here)

But I will say I have a decent amount of 1/4 zip fleeces, button shirts from them and have zero complaints.

Yeah, if it’s rebranded Knob Creek, that’s one I don’t care for either. A coworker loves Knob Creek so he gave me a bottle a couple of years ago as a Christmas gift. My honey and I tried it twice… neither of us liked it… then passed the bottle to another buddy that also didn’t like it. Finally used it to soak cedar plank salmon— LOL, Knob Creek = cooking whiskey.

I don’t know if Kirkland is KC.

I have also heard that Kirkland vodka is Grey Goose. I don’t drink vodka, but my friends that do, all love Great Goose, and all love the Kirkland vodka.

I very much enjoy their Premium 7 year small barch TENNESSEE bourbon. Have given it to bourbon snob family / friends, and they all are surprised at how good it is.

Yeah, their upscale vodka in the taller / slender / clear bottle with the synthetic cork top is comparable to Grey Goose and routinely scores higher.

Their Silver tequila is excellent, and I prefer it to Patron and Tito’s.

Also really enjoy their Irish Cream Liqueur in my coffee. Half the price of Baileys or Carolyn’s.

My dad and brother in law used to be huge Crown Royal guys. They both now drink the Kirkland Canadian whiskey. Tastes same / better at less than half the cost. They buy it by the case.

Their Gin is garbage. They are seemingly trying to copy Tanqueray, but fail badly.

Thanks for the reviews. I’ve stayed away from buying any Kirkland alcohol because we have so many options in each category we know we like— why gamble on an entire bottle we may not-? We love good gin, and don’t love Tanqueray, so likely won’t appreciate a poor knock-off. Based on your assessment of the Kirkland silver tequila, I’ll pick up a bottle next time I have need for margaritas!

Their tequila is perfect for margaritas, you’ll love it for the price.

And I GLADLY grab a bottle of Hendricks instead of the Kirkland gin.
