Seeing a lot of Tacoma commercials???? I think they might be doing away with the Tundra permanently!

That’s usually a sign Tacomas are not selling like they anticipated

I’d like to see some of the innovation from the Tacoma to the 2025 Tundra; like power up/down tailgate for starters…I personally like the 3rd Gen, is a solid start but improvements are needed to be great…Let’s hope…

Toyota only kept the Gen 2 Tundra in play so long because 1. It was bulletproof, no problems after initial recall 2. Their sales numbers, while low, were steady so the payoff on R&D was ensured and acceptable (but loooong term) 3. The rest of the industry hadn’t improved enough on actual MPG (not EPA numbers, real life MPG) to force the them to change. None of these points are true about the current Gen Tundras so my guess is they refresh soon. Japan is too stuck on the idea of competing with the big three in truck market to change significantly. The smart move would be to eliminate the tundra from the lineup and release something that competes with Maverick, Ridgeline as those yearly allocations are pre-sold in 5 days of ordering the past 2 years. They need something with a bed that rides smoothly as a car and gets 30 mpg. Neither the Tundra, Tacoma, (nor previously FJ or Land Cruiser) does that. Their SUVs have been 30+ MPG for years…time for the trucks to follow suit.

Toyota engineered and invested too much into the TNGA-F platform to make any significant changes for the next few years.

If history repeats itself, Toyota will probably offer a significant facelift or bodyline change around 2029-2030 (Gen 3.5) and the next frame-up and drivetrain change won't be until 2037 (Gen 4).

In the meantime, there will be minor exterior changes, a few new colors, maybe a new package or two, and probably more nannies added.

Probably because they're damn near the same price as a tundra, gets damn near the same mpg, and they look like ass in person. Like the result of a ridgeline and a colorado having a drunken one night stand.

I'm going to be so envious when they release the Tundra in Underground color. Saw a 4Runner for the first time the other day in that color and it looked rad.

only new thing about the 2025 model is probably another msrp price increased of 3-5k. The TRD PRO is almost in the same range as the f150 raptor.

Are you saying the 5.0 v8 in the IS500 is confirmed to be discontinued?

    I hadn’t heard this…

Can’t say its “officially” discontinued but the Lexus GX and LX now have the TTV6.

I gotcha. We’ll see. I wouldn’t be surprised. But neither one of those had the 5.0

My bad- Yes I believe they had the 4.7. Nonetheless, no V8 in the Lexus line up.

    GX 460 — 4.6L v8
    LX 570 — 5.7L v8

The IS500, RC-F, and LC all still run the 5.0 v8 for 2024.

LC has a hybrid v6 option…hope the rest don’t go that way. I want a used IS500 down the road, and if they drop the v8 altogether, it’s going to depreciate even less…

that's an interesting color, I would consider it next time around.

Im done with MGM, I had that for years on my 2016.

I do love this blueprint though, as it changes a lot with light

Blueprint is sweet. That's that metallic paint - its got the shiny stuff in it that changes with light. I just picked up a poo brown a couple weeks ago - same thing.

This is how I feel about smoked mesquite. A lot of people thought my truck was black when I would send them pictures only to find out it was brown. Plus blueprint and smoked mesquite are rare colors it seems. I’ve never seen a blueprint on the road yet and I have only seen smoked mesquite on my truck. Definitely some of the best colors to get to not fit in the mould. I thought I wanted lunar rock on my tundra, but it seems every tundra out there is lunar rock.

As for underground though, I like the color but feel since it is replacing MGM it’s just a way for Toyota to cut cost. Surely a metallic paint job is more expensive to them than a flat paint like underground. It does look good though!

It seems like a few of the Tundra colors appear to change colors depending on light. I have the lunar rock which looks gray in lower light, but then a colgate toothpaste green if it's bright out.
