    UPDATE - User Error

Today I was able to remote start the truck from about 20 yards away. You have to press the LOCK button 3 times pretty quickly and hold on the third press. I think I had to long of a delay pressing the lock button. While I am glad it worked that close to my truck, I am disappointed it doesn't work farther away. I can unlock our Lexus from the other side of a large parking lot. The truck only works within 20-30 yards.

If you have an iPhone and use Apple Maps, the turn by turn will still show in the little cluster screen. Waze and Google Maps don't seem to do that.

When mine expires that will be it. I rarely use it now.

That sounds great. Too bad I dislike apple products. What's the base of Apple maps?

Mine works fine. *Note-It will not work if you have any windows open or your tailgate down. It considers it Unlocked.

the app is mostly climate usefulness in my opinion. northern tier states that get really cold (or extremely cold like ND) find the app very useful in the dead winter months. when its -20F it comes in pretty useful (or in my wife's case anything below 20F). for my work my 4runner is parked across the street (about 50 feet) so i only use the fob. the wife has a different issue where building metal construction and distance negates the fob so the app is the only resolution to get it to remote start.

on the flip side, extremely hot states could use the app to run the a/c to cool down the interior but i dont hear that as much as the cold states.

Agree. I don't like Apple products either, but have chosen the iPhone because the family uses them. When I switched to Android once, there was mutiny! I don't use any of their apps except the iMessage App unless I am forced to (i.e. app store).

Good to know. That is probably why it wouldn't work a few days ago. I think I had a window cracked open because it was so hot.

Apple uses OpenStreetMap with their own and other data sources layered on

It saved me a half dozen times in the 1st year warning me I forgot to lock the truck or roll up the rear window. I’ve also built an Apple Shortcut on my phone that automatically locks my truck every night at the same time if it’s unlocked.

Does all this really matter? Most of us I bet use apple or google for our infotainment. I use Google, and you you can bet for sure that Google is doing all of this data capture 10x worse then Toyota and there isnt a god damn thing we can do about it unless you want to sit in the truck with a big blank screen.

I used it all the time , on both trucks ! If I see the 23 is parked and not locked , I lock it ! If it’s hot I start the 24 so it’s not like sitting in a sauna . I think it’s a great app and will use it for the term of the lease . 3 years free of charge in Canada . Not sure why it’s only a yr in the US . We never get the good deal lol

Interestingly, remote start is NOT working again with the FOB. I verified all windows are up, doors locked, etc. Three quick presses with a hold on third does nothing...even standing next to the truck. Very frustrating. The only thing I have done since it last worked was remove connected services after my trial expired. Not sure this would have any thing to do with remote start using the FOB???

My trial expired last month but I'm still able to remote start via FOB. Getting the timing right on the button pushes can be an issue though....

I've tried it fast, faster, and slow. It used to work, even though it took me a couple tries sometimes. Now there is nothing I can do to get it to work.
