The answer to your question is lower viscosity fan clutch fluid. While it’s not a good idea (will allow the motor to overheat easier)and will make the fan lethargic, it will be quieter.
No way I’d ever do it but besides removing the mechanical fan and installing an electric fan, that’s your only solution. Once again, I do not recommend it.

How exactly do you lower/replace the oil viscosity in the fan that you don't recommend that anyone should ever do? :monocle:I wonder sometimes.

You likely need to let down the front driver side window and the back window to create a sort of air tunnel in which the air will flow from front to back and carry the smell out and away.

I guess they want it to run like the original Lexus LS commercial with the full champagne glasses on the hood when they start the vehicle.

Wow, lonely bored people on this thread. Asked a question, digressed into farts, bad research, and the all to common response "its a truck". A couple good post on viscosity and electric fans. By the way I bought the Tundra because its not a truck. Drives like a car, at best it could fake being an El Camino. If I wanted a truck I would have gone to GM or Ford.

It's a big V8 doing its thing when it wakes up.

    I find the sound reassuring.

If a quiet start was a priority, I would have bought a 4 banger.

If this truck doesn't need head gaskets at 60k miles (like my CHEVY did), or get 40 mpg's, then I'm gonna be pissed!! :crapstorm::duh:

I'm with piney. I like the sound of my big V8 roaring to life. I find it funny this wasn't noticed when looking at trucks prior to purchase.

Compared to the Dyson vacuum startup on my wife's 17 CRV, I will never whine about the noises the Tundra makes.

I've never found it particularly loud compared to any other truck. My neighbor starts an EB F150 across the street that sounds like a jet turbine at warmup

I had numerous real "big blocks" and even stroked small block 351's and none of those "BIG" V8's roared to life. Had a 6.7 liter Ford Diesel and it didn't roar to life. On the other hand my 4Runner roars to life also. Bingo the Tundra sounds just like my V6 4Runner and 4.1Liter inline 6 my 2002 GMC envoy had in it.

No didn't notice, didn't know tailgate would bend in the first week loading a small ATV either. I didn't want a "Truck" but looks like I need one.... I going to end up breaking the roaring Tundra. Hear me roar isn't there a song with that in it.....

I've never been bothered by the fan noise in the morning.

My 19 F-350 with the 6.2 is loud as can be when it's cold, too...

Or a hybrid. My wife's Insight hums to you when you push the "Start" button. It's an artificial motor sound to let you know something has happened. Sounds like an organ playing a single note, quietly. Later on when the battery has lost a little charge, the ICE quietly starts up, but only when it needs and wants to. :D

Sounds like you will never be happy with it. Every single vehicle out there has some trade-off compared other similar vehicles. There are no perfect trucks out there. Ford has a crap ton of issues. Chevy has some issues. Dodge...good luck. Toyota has some issues, but wayyyy less then everyone else.

Don't like it, Sell it. Prices for used are awesome right now.

In FZ80's, we modded the fluid to make the fan work more aggressively. We'd drain thee old fluid, add heavier fluid & more than what was in it.
