Anyone ever use Roadmaster Active Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit?

    I have sway and ras, articulation is still fine, I'm just gonna buy victory 4x4 skid and modify it to fit, the rear sway bar really make driving better and helps with towing too.

    Are you saying you have a rear sway bar and RAS both installed same time? I have front and rear bars and wondering if I can add RAS too.?

    Too many, but not enough....
    The ras won't effect sway bar in rear. He's talking about rear differential plate and rear sway interference.

    you can add it as well. I am not sure the benefit you would see. I think you would see more with air bags to be honest. I am heading on a road trip pulling my 3500lb off road trailer next week with the Roadmasters installed. The one thing that I miss with the air bag system is the ability to level the ride out when pulling a trailer or while having the bed full of stuff. Roadmasters have been nice so far but the real test will be when I tow with them. I am heading from Oregon to Utah and back over 9 days, pulling my OPUS 4.

    The plate may interfere with the sway bar. I think the RCI runs a little bit narrower and may be able to accommodate a sway bar as well.

    How is the ride quality compared to stock? I was looking Into this exact same setup. My rear leafs are worn and I tow my camper frequently.

    Ride is fine, I have Bilstein 5160 shocks w/ ext. Res., yellow sumo springs for bump stops, BDS traction bars to control axle wrap, ome brake line relocate, ironman greasable shackles and bushings, iron man carrier bearing drop used 2 spacers per side.     Very nice! I'm running the 5160s as well. I figured between the dobinsons and the RM I'll get plenty of lift. I'm gonna be going for a 3/1 look soon. My 6112 are set to 1.9 but it's not level due to my bumper and skid plate. But that's another story. I appreciate the feedback

    Fyi, I am concerned about driving empty at night in a unfamiliar area and hitting a dip or similar which could cause the rear to lose ground contact and then the heavy springs may snap downward hard and pull the shocks apart. I have not checked total downward travel, so not exactly certain. However, I did purchase some adjustable limit strap clevis hardware and plan to eventually add limit straps to prevent over extension on all four corners. FWIW, I run Fat Bob's Garage Vated adj. Coilovers 3" 700lb springs and SPC adj. UCA, diff drop kit, sway bar drop kit, bump stop ext. kit All 1". Good luck! Tow safely!

    with a 3500# you'll be fine, the RAS raised my rear by an inch when empty, it now gives a stock trd pro lean when I have about 700-800# on the tongue weight, I do have to agree the ability to level with bags is a bonus.

    Good call... I have never had a problem with stiffer springs causing me to lose traction or rip shocks apart when bouncing around, especially on the pavement (unless the shocks aren't spec'd right for the set up you are running... and they may run out of downward travel). I ran heavier springs in my Taco, Deavers with cradled air bags and stage 7 Icons with the heavy springs up front. I also run a stage 3 Icon set up with heavy springs in my FJ and zero issues... (well one issue, it beats you up over long trips) I am currently running SPC UCA's and Bilstein B8 8125's in the front and Bilstein 5100's in the rear with the stock springs with the RAS. I also run a full size spare in the bed (properly secured with a 3 point strap) which may help with hop.

    The issue is when conditions are good and time is short I usually get on down the road. It may only take one dip or even an evasive maneuver to cause my truck to become slightly airborne momentarily. Once the weight is removed I expect the springs will extend with substantial forces. Not good with the price and availability of parts nowadays. Limit straps it is!

    Have not narrowed down a brand yet. Only bought the hardware and still need to fabricate my mounts. The rear mount will also serve to support the bed floor directly above the axle. Need to get the mounts made before I can determine length and brand. Lots going on now, hoping during the next 6 months.

    Definitely gets rid of sag but as an rv'er my eyes were drawn to the tires of the truck. There is a bunch more weight on that back axle and I see this because the front tire has almost half the tread making contact than the rear tire. Which is, instead of the truck bed, squatting. Unless memory fails me weight doesnt go away it just gets moved around. In this case the tires in the back are paying the price. Impressive what the Tundras can actually handle.

    I adjusted based on the gauges they provided. It rides nice and handles great but doesn’t have the ride height adjustment if air bags. If I can find an airbag that doesn’t impede the actuation of the RAS I will use both.

    1" of rear lift AND better load/trailer support and handling? Sounds like the perfect match for Bilstein 5100s on the top setting. If my napkin math is correct, Bilstein 5100s in the front on the top setting will net 2.25" and RAS in the rear will net 1" which should put me exactly where I want to be considering that the rear is exactly 2" higher than the front as my truck sits stock right now.

    Hmm.... I wish RAS wasn't $500!!

    def the roadmaster suspension. they work loaded and unloaded and you don't need to adjust it like airbags. Once installed, that's it.

    you got the heavy duty ones? Sag at 3500 lb sounds like the medium grade. Id go heavy duty and crank them to the black marker plate that comes with the set.

    for that I use weight distribution hitch. It takes weight off the axle, which RAS doesn't.

    Reviving an old thread rather than starting a new one. How can you tell if a kit is the HD version? Measure the thickness of the coils? Anyone with a RAS want to measure their coil for me. I might buy a lightly used kit if it’s the HD version. Thank you!

    good question, I looked at the photos online. itt looked like the SD version had 19 coils, and the HD one had 18. So I'm guessing HD is less thicker coils. kind of hard to get a true reading with my calipers with it installed but it was between 11 and 12mm thickness for the HD coils

    Roadmaster got back to me, and here is the response
    “The difference between the SD kit and the HD kit is the amount of tension wound into the coil springs and also the components are bigger on the HD kit to accommodate that extra tension strength. The SD kit would reduce about 2 inches of sag whereas the HD kit will reduce about 3 inches of sag.

    Because the HD kit uses bigger components, there is no way to convert a SD kit into a HD kit.

    I would suggest going with the HD kit from the get go. Simply because you could always set the HD kit to a lower tension setting to mimic the SD kit but have a lot more adjustability there if you ever needed it. I am the type of person I would rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Especially since neither kit will harden your ride quality with OR without a load!

    So when you go with the HD kit, it is like you are getting a SD kit and a HD kit all rolled into one! ”

    The kit I was looking it was verified to be the standard duty. I’ll probably just buy the HD kit new and avoid any hassle with missing parts. Thank you, all.

    Roadmaster makes a great product plain and simple. They have changed the Jeep world with a system that I am not sure is out yet but many guys were "testing" running in place of the traditional steering stabilizer. Ask most people in the RV world and they will say they make a great product.

    I will be running a light camper (350 lbs) plus camping gear. So let's say 600 lbs total in the bed. Would I be better served with something like the RAS, or something like Sumospring/Timbren?
