For $600 +/- for the OEM headlights. It’s really the best option for the money, I say

I had some projector retrofits in my '16 and the output was amazing. The reliability left a lot to be desired. I ended up replacing the projectors with 18+ OEM leds and Ihacker harness for the sake of reliability.

I just changed mine to the OE led headlights. Very easy with the harness. Ordered from Sparks and got the harness from Headlight Revolution. $600 for both headlights is a deal! Our RAV4 has led headlights and one of those is $700!

If you're on a budget like I was, you can't beat the AlphaRex offerings and some 60w or 72w LED H7 bulbs.

Not thrilled with the brights pattern at night but it's definitely a TREMENDOUS step upwards from the OEM ones in my '16 SR5 too.

i'll echo what most others have said above ... i did the OEM TRD Pro LEDs and @iHacker harness upgrade a month ago and haven't looked back. it's not cheap, but totally worth it and easy to do yourself.

    I agree but disagree.

I feel it is cheap, my Tacoma OEM LED’s were $1300ish for just the headlights alone plus harness. I was stoked to find out the tundra’s were less than half the price.
A bit different set up with entirely full LED’s and switchback drl turns but still… I can see where you’re coming from

I also recommend the OEM TRD headlamps.

A couple years ago I responded to a thread here where a rep from Anzo USA was looking for LED headlamp beta testers. He is legit and has been great to deal with but the china-made products are garbage, even when given to me for free.
I am currently on my 3rd pair of free headlights in a little over two years. First set, one of them just randomly stopped working, so he sent me another set. 2nd set, same issue but it was because there was 3" of water inside the headlamp housing. Im now on my 3rd set and they are not nearly as bright as the first two sets.

They look great but chinese products just completely suck. PERIOD.
When this 3rd set of headlamps fail (and they will) I will whip out my wallet and run to the local Toyota dealer for a set of OEM TRD Pro headlamps.

OEM. Nothing comes close to their build quality. Headlights are one of those things that tend to be very finicky in the aftermarket, even with some of the high dollar aftermarket models. If you're on a budget just buy used. I bought my OEM LED's for ~$300 total buying each one used and then using a conversion harness off ebay for another $50.

Exactly this... you can get the headlights a lot cheaper used and getting a new harness from Amazon for like $40.

Same OEM is the way to go IMO. I went from clear LED to Pro version.

I had the halogen on mine originally.
went with LED oem. then eventually went with morimoto xb. a lil pricey but i like the way it looks.
almost 2 years with morimoto and no complaints.

theres just something about those amber lights too! but their high beam is a bit underpowered for my taste. so i converted my fogs to driving lights and use the "fog lights" as my high beams.

It's not a clean and defined cutoff like you would see in an OEM style projector headlight, but yes, there's a cutoff. Just make sure you mark the cutoff in the stock lights before swapping so you get the same aim.

Hopefully this isn’t a stupid question, but does the year for the replacement assemblies matter? My Tundra is a 2016, so should I go with that year? Or any year of the same generation?

This was a big surprise for me with my 2.5gen, the lights are terrible pretty much the same as the lights in my '03 Tundra. But my wife's '-07 4Runner has excellent OEM projectors .... so why does my 9 year NEWER truck not have them makes no sense unless it was to keep cost down by Toyota
