what's so hard to believe about it being titled as new? that's what demos are.

New/used is defined by title status, not mileage. Of course it's being a demo still allows someone to take advantage of new car rates/lease specials.

 

yeah i know that its still new since it was never sold/titled. but who in your right mind would buy a 5k used truck in reality. cause you know it wasnt babied like its suppose to be.

 

I get it, it doesn't work for everyone. It's a highly desirable combo (color plus hybrid) with a discount and new car rates. I personally don't think a few thousand miles mean much on a Toyota. Hell, I'm building a deal for myself on it to trade my PRO in lol. If it was a Platinum, I'd be signing paperwork on it now.

 

I would consider a dealer demo. Some concessions on cost and maybe extended warranty would be in my wish list. No different than buying a used one, except you get the benefits of new with the potential for cost savings. My 525i BMW that rolled 455k miles was a dealer demo with 3.5k miles on it. Nothing wrong with that.

 

I bought a Kia optima demo around April 2020 with 3 k miles. Bought for like 21k. Sold it like a year later for $28k. Demos don’t bother me

 

ya I get it, no worries, works for some, not for me, especially with no discount.

I had the same opportunity here, they had a demo and said they would do 1K off. for a stinkin grand, I bought a new one, thats being built now

I was at my local Toyo dealer today for service. Had identical 1794s in Mesquite. The new was listed on web site for $4500 less than the used with 4k on it. I assume they made a bad trade to move a new vehicle

 

I traded a platinum hybrid in on a 1794 hybrid at msrp. They then listed the platinum for 10k more than msrp when I bought it originally. They did give me what I paid for it tho.

 

Yeah, the new market and used market are completely independent of each other. It's wild. Wholesale is shooting back up through the roof again..I'm seeing major players (Carvana, drivetime, etc) pay 4-5k over wholesale for vehicles as of late. I don't know what their end game is but it's really screwing up the algorithms.

 

Why did you go from the Platinum to the 1794?

I originally wanted an army green 1794 hybrid long bed with the TRD OR package. Unicorn truck. Found it and was able to get what I paid for the platinum and get into a much nicer spec truck.

It's technically sold but I just know this customer and they always say they want unique stuff and then once it gets here, they decline it. They buy a ton of cars so it's hard to tell them no I'm not letting you reserve this one. If you are interested, PM me and I can put your information down as the first backup on it. I just want to be transparent with you on it that's all.

 

The 1794 hybrid was sold to a forum member!! I also just had a white crewmax Limited become available. It's a nice build..someone jump on it!

 

Crap, that Limited Hybrid you have on allocation is what I'm looking for, but we have to get the Sienna paid off first.

The Brown Limited was sold this morning. The white Limited hybrid is currently in the works.

 

Who did you sell it too? I might get rid of my truck.

 

It was traded in to the dealer I bought the new one at.

 

I just put in an allocation order for a supersonic red platinum so I can get a few upgrades I originally wanted but were hard to come by during covid. I'm on pretty good terms with the guys at my dealer so he put in for allocation without hesitation but told me platinum long bed (6.5 bed) in red may come around Christmas. They seem to be at the bottom of the production chain. Salesman will text me when its allocated to production.

 

He just added you to a list that he has no control of, unfortunately.

 

Agreed. But unfortunately that's how Toyota does business. He told me I'm going to wait a long long time. I'm good with that. They don't make me feel like they're not even bothering like some salesmen do.

 

yeah toyota allocation reserve screen in dealerdaily is just that. a request to send it to that dealer when its made on the production line. i've used it plenty of time and had no issue on waiting. hell we waited 10 months for ours that we got in feb-2023 and put our allocatioin request in may-2022.
