I’ve taken mine apart multiple times. Takes no more than 10 minutes. I paid $575 for factory painted stash and installed myself.

Any one do a matt black on a Midnight black? I have been thinking about changing all the chrome on the truck to matt. It also looks like the regular black is not a good match?

I can email you some close up photos if you are trying to match the textured of your inner grille. I haven't seen Matte Black on the Midnight Black, but I also have no idea who has been buying the Matte Black (we've have a lot of orders for it, just no truck body color data).

The "Gloss Black" is meant for regular black trucks. Midnight Black has glitter in it. Gloss Black will not and therefore will not match. If you are talking about the the post that was further back in the thread, we believe this is an extremely rare circumstance as all our other Midnight Black customers have not called or emailed with complaints about the color.

Testing at the dealership in both sunlight and shade have proven to be a NEAR perfect match to the naked eye. However, we have noticed that photographs seem to reflect the UV protective coated, which gives it a slight blue hue, making the Midnight Black not as "photogenic" as we'd like. But in real life it looks great.

This is what we believe as well. As mentioned above, the photos look a little off. Could be a curvature thing?

There have been some rumblings, but nothing I can actually speak to right now and not because of a Non-Disclosure. I just literally have no additional info. I'll bring it up in tomorrow's morning meeting to see what I can get.

I’m guessing most of us want mustache and the rear chrome pieces to cover the worst parts, and possibly the front lower valence if not a dark colored rig where it blends well anyways.

 

Haha, these are currently being engineered and optimized. They're basically done, we're just trying to figure out the best way to do it. Right now they are on the same sheet of plastic as the fronts, which helps us make the product more affordable! However, we have started noticing some issues since the parts are REALLY close together that might result in an unsatisfactory product. So we're testing all kinds of things, like temperatures, placements, etc. to make sure these products are the quality you expect from us.

 

Ah, the joys of quality control along with mold and materials management.
I understand completely as I hand mold small NLA rubber parts for the early 911 engine harnesses I build.

Received my grille surround yesterday and installed it. Overall pretty happy with the look. The color isn’t an exact match, but very close. Fit and finish is pretty good. I did use some of the black tape on the lower pieces just in case, but didn’t on the upper where after installation noticed some chrome showing probably due to installer error. One thing to keep in mind is that once the supplied adhesive promoter is activated, be sure to spread it on all surfaces right away. I took my time with the lower pieces and by the time I went to apply the adhesive promoter to the upper trim, it had dried out. Luckily I was able to get some locally at a Oreilly’s. Looks way better now especially without that chrome Hulk Hogan ‘stache!
