Turns out that the CrewMax and Double Cab have very different window trims

 

Start with Crewmax first please! I think there are more of us with that option

 

They both have the same tailgate spoiler though

 

We're going to release them simultaneously. We met with a member who I will not name, unless he wants to be named. But he came and got a scan of his windows!

 

Installed today. Will post pics later. Video was super helpful. Only complaint would be the top mustache piece on each end seems rounded across the hood and partially downed then stops being rounded. Not sure if this was intentional or not. Otherwise very good fit.

 

Your complaint is actually intentional. It's a little addition to help hide the chrome. It "stops" being rounded because we can't around it where the body touches. But that rounding is very intentional. We wanted the top mustache piece to sort of "hug" around the back.

 

I figured the top was it's where it stops but assume that is because there isnt anything to hug around. Not bad just made the install and getting it right tricky.

 

Ha, yeah, the entire thing was intentional. Sorry it made it a little harder to install. We just wanted it to look as good as possible! We spent months after the initial release making little engineering changes. We probably will continue making changes, but maybe not as big as the little turn down we did. Glad you like it though!

 

Took awhile thanks to a fender bender but finally got the fog lamp bezel installed.

Installed the door handle covers today. Overall, color match looks great!!

My only input, at first glance I wish the overlay only covered the chrome section of the handle. I think it would look better just covering the chrome, keeping the black up and lower trim areas uncover. Again, just an opinion.

Hey, opinions help sell products or keep people from getting something they might not enjoy. We didn't make these, we just painted them. Trim Illusion has this new patent with the "snap-on" technology that wraps around, so they're really leaning into it. Sorry to hear you don't like that, though. It seemed really cool when I talked to them about it.

 

@EC1 Did you ever confirm the impact of these to the "touch unlock" function?

 

In a private message, @Yota802 confirmed that it seems to work. Not sure why he didn't talk about that in his post

But we privately chatted about it because I needed an isolated thread to show Trim Illusion in case we had another complaint. It seems like it continues to function as normal, but we always recommend test fitting and testing your touch unlock before fully installing.

Not sure how Yota802 did the install, but I gave him some instructions on how to install during the cold months. Maybe that variable helped the process?

 

I have an earlier post regarding my install and experience with the door handle covers.

I want to clarify that I think the wrap around, snap on nature of the design is a good thing, and gives me peace of mind that they will last the life of the vehicle despite the daily pressures applied to the door handles. I also want to clarify that the touch unlock feature works flawlessly with these installed, but the touch lock button on top of the driver door handle is covered, and I could not get it to function with the covers installed.

Overall I think it is a great product, and recommend them to anyone who is looking to color match their door handles at the expense of the touch lock sensor on top of the driver door handle.

 

That's a pretty important distinction. I'll send this over to Trim Illusion and see if there is a work-around.

 

Yes I should have mentioned that the unlock features, both the grab to unlock feature and the touch on top left side are currently working as they were before.

 

What if I told ya'll I found some chrome delete body trim overlays? We don't make them, but we can certainly sell them.

I'm not entirely sure where they go. I think they're meant for the doors on the 1794, but they're supposed to fit every trim level.

 

Looks like window trim to cover the chrome. I believe all models are the same dimensions. Obviously, crewmax and extended cab are different with the rear windows.

 

The description only says "body trim"

They don't really make sense for the windows. There's only 4 pieces in an order
