Um it does matter because many of us with tundra tacoma 4runners are looking for this product at a reasonable price. So if BD can't offer this for our vehicles, that is a disadvantage.

i understand that argument if one company makes something for your specific vehicle that the other does not. So no comparison.

but when we are just trying to compare lights vs lights that a different beast all together.

If DD makes something for your vehicle specific and BD doesn’t, why is there a whole comparison discussion going on?

So I’m quoting your original post.
You say the DD SS3 are $170 and the BD are $340. I’m purely asking what models you are comparing?

But that's the point. BD does make a toyota specific light and it's $300+.

That's what the comparison is for

Ok, link the exact product you are comparing to.

that’s what I’m asking. What products you’re comparing. That’s all I have been asking. Which exact products you are comparing

Ok I see the comparison now.

the argument should be why does the bd kit cost more than the dd kit.

The lights themselves are $180 vs $230 and have easily comparable differences and the buyer should make their own choice.

but the kits have significant differences and that’s where the buyer should be asking the questions.

If you are looking at street legal SAE fog lights, here are the links to the tundra kits

    Baja designs at $430
    https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/Toyota-Tacoma-Tundra-4Runner-Squadron-SAE-Fog-Light-Kits.asp

DD SS3 models - $200 for the sport kit, $320 for pro kit, $520 for the Max kit
    https://www.diodedynamics.com/ss3-led-fog-light-kit-for-2014-2020-toyota-tundra.html

I have the SS3 pros on my truck and the sports on my wife's SUV

If you are looking at the BD squadron sport wide cornering, those are NOT street legal and are an offroad only light.

    great post!

I hope this answers and fills OPs needs.

looking at specs of both I would say a fair comparison would be the BD sae kit vs the DD SS3 pro kit. And I’m only comparing sae compliance and posted lumen output. $100 difference between them.

I will leave all the science of usable lumens, wavelengths and all that other voodoo to the pros who have been posting

    Tastefully enhanced...
BDs products are amazing...no shortcuts, the toyota-specific mounting provisions are better thought out then DDs, and they give you a lifetime warranty...purpose-built.lighting needs this if you beat up your accessories when offroad. DD made a far better SAE beam pattern before BD did and they work amazingly...I have both, BD is brighter and seemingly have a better built housing for specifically only speaking on the pods....like suspension, wheels, and tires, one needs to decide what's important to them and what future costs for ownership might be realized...
