I work in oil refineries, and if it's the only refinery in that area, every gas station within X amount of miles gets the same quality of gas, but may or may not get the additive package, so let's say you have a Marathon refinery, every single Shell, BP, phillips 66, mom and pops store, wal mart, Costco, etc get the same gas. The refineries generally only have one additive pack to add to the gas, they don't keep several different additive packs. the amount of said additive is negotiated between the customer and the refinery. This info is coming from many different operators, engineers, and upper management of several different refineries, because I always ask to see if anything is done differently. Hope this helps

As far as injector cleaner, I do notice if I use a couple cans of seafoam or Berryman, that my mpg increases a bit.

With B12 Chemtool, I had a lawn mower that barely idled. Poured some B12 in the gas (by eye ball, more than recommended I am sure) fired her up and you could smell the B12 being burned thru the exhaust. After running a few minutes it idled great. I did it with an older outboard motor as well. I recommended it to a friend and he tried it with is ATV and same thing, said it worked great. I actually don’t use it much in my tundra, but every year or two I dump a bottle in.

I think what it shows is that for a completely dirty engine, non of them do a great job (though I think the wire brush comes out on top)
Starting with high quality fuel is the most important decision and since no fuel comes with Seafoam in it, or Marval mystery oil those two can take a seat.
Techron comes with Chevron gas and will slow down the process of carbon build up.
To me, If I run Chevron, (which I have done for the days of my first car / bike), I'll be fine with an occasional add every oil change.

I use a bottle of Techron every 5k or so. Other than that just try to use Top Tier fuel.

If you want truly clean injectors, you pull em out and send them to somewhere like RC fuel injector service where they can be cleaned and flow tested.

Same here but rotate thru Seafoam or Lucas Fuel... why not get the benefits of each?

So OP was about Fuel additive but some folks have commented on Oil additives. I've read a few of your logical responses all around this forum which is what you have above (hat tip, sir) .

What's your 2 cents on additional Oil additives? I think today's top tier oil's have enough for the newer cars.

Secondly - top tier fuels - yes, agreed, but some folks would suggest running 89 or higher. I've always run what my vehicle calls for and use a Seafoam/Techron/Lucas every oil change.

I'm assuming all these questions on a stock Tundra... maybe a different air filter, etc but no other engine/intake mods.

You are absolutely correct, and I don't claim it works any better than any other product as I have no actual proof. It's kinda like when I put seafoam in my boat before I let it sit awhile. My mechanic says it helps w/water in the gas, condensation, etc. I just trust him at his word and feel better knowing that I tried small things to keep my engine running smoothly.

I don't believe in oil additives unless you happen to run nitro in your top fuel car. They are not needed as today's oils are superb in what they do.
I can't remember an oil related failure in any vehicle I or a friend has ever owned.
People can do what makes them feel good; it's America and that's what makes us great.
Run the best fuel you can and change oil to the frequency the manufacture suggests you'll be good to go.
The current ICEs are masterpieces of engineering for what they do.

    Not enough....
Berryman's B12 is so damn caustic, I'd be shocked if it DIDN'T do anything! It may give you cancer later in life, but for now, it certainly is proven to be a great solvent. So I have no doubt it does a half decent job as an injector/combustion chamber cleaner.

BG. My cousin is a mechanic at a Toyota dealer and has always recommended the BG flush (oil, trans, and radiator). I went to the auto parts store the other day because my Prius (I know I know...) with 120k had a little hesitation on acceleration. I asked if they had anything better than Lucas. He went to the back, and came up front with two cans of the BG fuel injector cleaner. I didn't even know they sold this stuff. I let my Prius go to about 1/4 tank, dumped a can in and drove it like I stole it. It's been a few weeks and acceleration is perfect (I know, that sounds weird for a Prius).

I'm going to Montana (from So Cal) in a week to go camping with my kid. So I put the second can in my '17 Tundra with 75k. Gunned it several times. Didn't have a problem before, but I'll likely put a can in every year. I only drive my truck maybe 7-8k miles per year so should be more than enough.

But hands down, the BG cleaner had the fastest and most noticeable difference of any fuel injector cleaner that I've ever used. I've used Lucas and Seafoam, and I honestly did not seem to notice anything. I didn't really have issues and maybe that's the reason, but the BG stuff was excellent.

I guess its like eating veggies.... I can't say they don't do anything good for me but you got to try them all. I'll see if I can find some BG locally and give it a go.

The amsoil p.i. does the same. It's like you are running 100 octane for the tank. Beat the shit out of it. All good.

My 97 taco started pinging at about 60-K miles.

Pining was gone after a few tanks of Lucas injector cleaner.

Kept using it nonstop and the engine seemed to run very smooth.

More than one Toyota mechanic would comment after driving it. “Unusually strong and smooth.”

Used it nonstop until I sold it at over 200-K. Smog results were always very clean.

Thinking about using it in the 2021 Tundy.

The new Tundy will see little use, with lots of down time. Injector cleaners might be a good idea for a truck that sits weeks or longer.

Redline SI-1 has the highest concentration of PEA of any cleaner known. It is the best I have found.
