I reached out to Casey yesterday via text. Was told my exhaust was done. We’ll see. I’m sure I’ll get it eventually. I will say, he’s been great at responding. With that said, I’d prefer honesty over pissing on my leg and telling me it’s raining.

This reminds me a little of a place that makes tractor implements. They’d take the money and eventually send your parts. Months later. In a lot of cases, it was later enough that it was beyond the window of having their credit card company dispute the charge and gain a refund.

For people that are paying via PayPal, or similar, are you paying Friends & Family? Zero chance I would do this, as there is no protection for us as buyers. I would, however, pay Goods & Services and add the ~2% for the fees that the seller will pay. He gets all his money, and you’re protected if you get to the point that trust is no longer on the table. PayPal will get the money back, but only if you went Goods & Services.

So on top of being a liar, this guy won't offer refunds and won't ship out in a timely manner? Please be careful who you do business with!

I'm at the point of trying to figure out what to do about my exhaust now. His exhaust hit a price point I was comfortable with. I just don't see myself dropping 1200+ on an exhaust anymore.

Was he banned from the forum? I thought he had posts in this thread a long time ago and gone now.

This sounds like a common tale with fabricators, seems like a dime a dozen for fabrication taking forever, communication being hit or miss, and the company eventually sinking. Which I always find odd, as someone who has done quite a bit of fabricating for people, I constantly send photos when the material arrives, progress even if the product isn't finished, updates every couple days even if I haven't touched it etc. It's not THAT hard or time consuming to grab a quick photo just to keep people in the loop, they are the ones paying the bills...

Yes. He received a vacation for a political post and when he came back went on a rant and basically told us to f-off.

I have zero dogs in this fight but I will say I've seen this countless times over the years for guys doing a side business that still have a 9 to5 daily gig.
Once they scale up and really start to take off, things suffer. It's too bad in a lot of cases. He does some beautiful work.

I never quite understood that. I do but what I mean is you must know your limitations as far as time etc. If you can't keep up with demand, don't take the order, or just limit the orders you take to what you can produce. It's not rocket science!

Happens with big companies too. Stillen left us all on our own with their shit intake. Almost 7 months later, they're barely releasing a revised version.

In fairness, I like to think they are t willingly doing this, and instead, they just get consumed by the bow wave.

Best of intentions, worst of execution type of scenarios. For anyone who wasn't around for it, search Valhalla Shields.

I emailed him specifically about lead times before I purchased one and he assured me it would be 2-6 weeks. We all know how that's gone.

Ordered 9/21, stopped receiving updates Nov 22. Several emails and calls, no response. Asked for a refund today - concerned that I may have to start a chargeback. Very thankful that I paid Goods & Services

I did not send my payment as Goods & Services unfortunately. So, I am just holding out hope that I will still get this in.

I almost didn't, and then I remembered a similar experience I had several years back. Since then, its always been worth it to me for the extra cost, to have protection. I would still rather have the exhaust, but it is seeming less and less likely that it is going to show up.

Sorry that you have to deal with this! Maybe small claims court, if it gets to that point? Lot of hassle though

Yeah it's tough! But, I wouldn't go through the hassle of small claims court. Just hoping and praying at this point.

Tradesmen are often not good businessmen. I'm saying that as a tradesman myself. I've done small scale stuff like this (i'm a welder too). The best way to keep a good rep and not be overwhelmed is to do a production run, sell those when they're done and then do another when you have time. Don't take orders.

In this guy's case, he should build 3 or 4 Tundra exhausts then sell them when they're ready to shp to first come, first serve. Then a run of 4Runner models or whatever, and sell those.

Too many guys see dollar signs when the orders starts rolling in and get overwhelmed then lose rep and money by failing to keep up. Same thing happened with a few of the cat shield guys.

Everything about this screams red flag. I thought the last excuse was child care? Now it's business travel? And "the boys being jealous" is far fetched. Hopeful, perhaps, but only that maybe, perhaps, they'll get something for their $$. The last sentence gives me the shivers, though. Who talks like that?
