    Lots of stuff!
    I hear that!

Back when my wife and I bought our first condo many years ago, we bought into an adult orientated building. This was great until all the people who have nothing better to do, started putting demands on the rest of the owners, and they managed to sneak in an age restriction of over 45. We were about 28 at the time. We were grandfathered but when we tried to sell, it made the prospects limited. We took them to court and got the age restrictions removed and sold it.

Many of the guys on the Airstream forum remind me of these people. I tend to not visit the forum much these days. My trailer is working fine and if something breaks, I fix it. Otherwise if I am stuck, I will reach out to them. There are so many opinions over there, I am surprised that the site can still run with all that hot air! :)

I can relate to that. Nothing worse than retired folk with nothing better to do than make everyone else’s business their business because they have no life. Our landscaper planted some trees beyond our property line that backed into a nature preserve. Even though the trees were native to Washington, some nosey neighbors called the city and within a week we had public works knocking on our door. Because of the size of the trees they needed to use an excavator so they got replanted at a rate of $600 an hour.

Suspension and brake noises started happening after I hauled my 18ft trailer a handful few times. We thought we were just going to add a 2023 4R but ended up trading in the truck for close to msrp.

So no truck in the stable right now but I'm looking forward to test driving a 2024 Tundra later this year. I have my hopes up!

Just wanted to point out I bought my 22 Limited Certified (with 100k warranty) used for $51k (before taxes and fees) with 30k miles on it. Maintained history showed no warranty services only regular maintained. I put 5k miles on it now with no issues. Have both keys (didn't know it was a key issue).

As far as road noise its a bit quieter than my 14 Tundra was but road noise isn't really an issue until I'm at 80mph.

As most said, you shouldn't buy a car without a test drive. Even if you owned the exact same model before (total loss accident or something) and you go to the dealer to buyer another one, you MUST TEST DRIVE IT. Every car will be different and a basic inspection and test drive is CRUCIAL before signing any paperwork.

I always thought these forums are funny how the only people who post are either Carheads and love their truck, or complain about something.

I don't get the no test drive thing. Just bought a Mazda CX5 for my son and they made us drive it. I said we had driven one a year or so ago and they said it is Mazda's policy to have the buyer drive the vehicle they are purchasing.

    Note - I got 3 car FOB's with my 2020 Tundra Crewmax ;)

LOL! Some people are really bent outta shape by the one key thing. When they told me about only having one key I didn’t really care one way or another, its outta my control and no sense in getting upset. I was just happy about the truck!

    Remember the ol’ serenity prayer?
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

It's my understanding that we are supposed to call Toyota Road Side assistance for a lost/broken FOB. I'm also told they will drive a replacement out to you and presumably program it to the vehicle on the spot. Trouble is if they think you've lost the original they may also remove that one from the trucks data base....or however that works :(

If trucks are so hard to come by up in Canada, couldn't you just sell yours and make a profit? Then you can come down to the good ol' US of A and get yourself whatever you want. I hear they are coming out the dealers whazoo's. Hell, you can even test drive a couple before you buy.

lol dont think ive test drove a toyota in the last 10-15 yrs or longer. but i do research a lot via channels like redline reviews, doug demuro, alex on autos and various other yt reviews. overall toyota has a certain way/style they do vehicles and it carries over from model to model. been driving toyota's since 1984 (first new 1984 celica gt fastback for 16 bday gift from mom)

my dad was driving toyota's before that (in the era of driving a foreign vehicle in Detroit was a death wish)

Yeah, this is most people’s point on this thread—all of the OP’s issues have been covered pretty extensively on the forum, on Facebook, on YouTube, etc.

Being informed always helps temper expectations.

As someone who’s owned multiple Audis I can attest to this. Fun to drive but everyone of them ate oil worse than a John Deere tractor

just wait til that GM has a failed rod/lifter or transmission or begins eating oil.

As someone that owns a 22 Escalade as family vehicle I’m talking from personal experience.

GM is garbage in the reliability department. Escalade 6.2 gets 14 mpg at best. 17 on highway. Granted it’s a brick on wheels. Very comfortable and nice interior. Just no bueno in reliability. I’ve only had one of the above issues and it turned out to be an oil pan gasket. Time will tell if that’s it. Dealership is terrible tried to say it was a sensor at first. I will be getting an extended warranty for the Escalade before the regular warranty is up. I have not had tranny or rods/lifters yet. But based on loaner availability at the local dealer I’d say there’s plenty of problems with GM. I knew about rods/lifters going in but interior and looks of GM Yukon Tahoe Escalade with captains chairs trumps comparable SUVs- Expedition, Navigator, QX80 etc

Why you think I traded my 2022 Silverado for a Tundra after 5 months. Transmission issues, Engine constantly shut off when at a stop, safety restraint failure and the turning point and reason for the trade in, my brakes went out and I couldn't stop. Luckily I wasnt on a highway doing 80mph cause it would of been over for me.

I have a Limited trim so I am going to bitch about everything ;) I love the color but I hate the color! That's just to start. I am going to start a thread called: Why I %^#**# and (*@#*$*@ Toyota %@$**@@! (Sorry for screaming) :)

My biggest issue is with my dealership service department, I have had zero issues with my Limited.

But seriously, I haven't noticed a increased amount of bitching over the SR5 or Limited compared to the other trims. The issues seem to be across the board. It might be that there are more trucks in those trims so percentages are higher.

All the OP had to do was check out one @Coal Dragger post and he’d have been well informed of the 3rd Gen downfalls. And I don’t even know if coal dragger ever test drove one yet lmao. I have test drove just about every 3rd Gen configuration with the exception of a TRD Pro. The 3rd Gen looks are growing on me, sans the hulk stache. I rent 3rd gens when I travel if available just to get accustomed to every type/build etc. My observations are the giant screen is obnoxious. This probably magnifies the narrow field of vision on the windshield. I wasn’t impressed with the hybrid model as far as speed/torque. Model I drove was jumpy but I hear there’s a service bulletin out for them. Non hybrid has plenty of pep/get up and go. For the money I’d order a raptor over the TRD pro. I most likely would wait for a TRD off road model and mod it myself over the pro if I ever go toyota 3rd Gen route. Like most loyal 2.5 Gen V8 owners, I’ll wait years for the bugs to be worked out before I ever think about buying one. Like it or not toyota is sticking with this platform and will eventually perfect the longevity and build quality as there are plenty of complaints like this one

I live 50 miles from the nearest dealer and I work on call 24/7, so I don’t have daily opportunities to see what is on the lots. Until trucks show up that aren’t sold already I don’t have anything to test drive. Pre-owned Gen 3’s also seem to go quickly so that’s not a great option either.

I still plan to test drive one when the time comes. At the moment I am watching the storm clouds forming above the economy, and counting myself lucky I didn’t give in to impulses to buy the new shiny things and instead stack cash, invest, and eliminate debt.

More worrying is high consumer debt levels, auto loan delinquencies are up too. Hiring is slowing down. Home sales are slowing down.

Read the other day that UPS is seeing freight level go down and they carry approximately 6% of US GDP in their trucks and intermodal business.

Then we have another bank failure looming in San Fran again.

I will bet it starts getting ugly by years end. Glad I have a seniority based job and I’m over 16 years in, the RR I work for would have to eliminate over 60% of it TY&E employees to see me furloughed. Not saying it’s impossible just very unlikely. A lot of my younger colleagues are going to take it in the shorts though if things get ugly, along with a lot of other folks. I guess we are going to discover who has their financial house in order and who doesn’t sooner than later.

Not worried about it, there are more Silverados on the road that have not had any lifter issues than has had them. A few years ago there was a run of lifters that were not heat treated correctly.

The 8 speed transmissions did have issues, but the 10 speed, which my current Silverado has, has a very good track record so far in reliability

If any issues do arise then the warranty that came with the vehicle will cover it, just like the warranty that all toyotas come with. Ever seen a toyota dealership service department, they never look empty.

Point I am making is nothing is 100% reliable, every auto maker has had its issues, thats why there are service departments, warranties.

I like my Silverado, I liked a few of my tundras, I liked a few of the dodges I had. I am all over the place and not brand loyal, any brand can let you down.
