Has anyone have or tried this tire? Reviews seem to be all positive.

I've never even heard of that brand. Any idea where it's made?

Japanese company, tires made in a variety of Asian countries (Thailand, China, etc). Been around for a while and I think they are now Kal Tire exclusive.

Ya it says American company with Japanese roots. Kaltire guy told me these are as good as BF’s if not better. So I was wondering about them.

I'm not a fan of shop exclusive stuff like tires. The Kal guy will tell you they are as good better than another brand tire as he gets a much higher profits margin or kickback from his manager if he moves them.

They may actually be awesome ...but I have no experience with them.

I'm not interested in giving Kal Tire my business any more. Though maybe I just came across one shop that's not very good.

What bugs me about Kal Tire is I can call three different locations and get three totally different prices on tires.

I had a written quote and they still tried to overcharge me. Said it was a website error.

I paid it. Emailed head office and then got a call from the store manager making excuses.

I got my refund in the end.

You had a written quote and they wouldn't honor it? That stinks.

The Kal Tire in GP has always treated me well. We bought our Nokian winter tires from there. Unfortunately, the only A/T tire they have that I'm interested in is the BFG K02 but it's pretty far down my list. Not a fan of Fountain Tire or the local independent, Tire Pro. I may give TireCraft a try next time, he seems to stock the good stuff like Cooper, General, Falken etc.

    Nope.

The store level manager said that must have been a price error or website glitch and he started to tell me I would have to pay extra for this and that. Meanwhile, the quote was to cover it all (tire swap).

The printout was clear and detailed, even had my CC info on file to reserve the service and time etc.

Head Office was very apologetic (form letter?) and was embarrassed at how the store manager handled it. So I was happy with their quick reply and resolution. The store level guy on the other hand, was a dolt when he called me.

It was a minor inconvenience but my first with Kal, so they aren't off to a good start with me.

    Corporate reply:
My name is Janet and I am a member of the Customer Relations Team for Kal Tire. I would like to thank you very much for taking the time out of your day to contact us about the service that you received at our Portage Ave, Winnipeg store.

Your experience was underwhelming and unacceptable and for that, I sincerely apologize. Our team at that location has room for improvement when it comes to both service and very importantly, communication.

As the service that you received does not meet the standards that we strive for, I will be reaching out to the appropriate management team members to ask for their assistance in looking into these pricing concerns and have asked them to contact you with a suitable resolution.

Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with both your feedback and the opportunity to resolve this issue.

A friend of mine recommended our local Kal Tire and said she knows the manager personally. The work was fine but they were very unprofessional. My brother in law works for Fountain Tire so I should be able to get a small discount there.

I can't remember how much life is left in my wife's tires but, if I'm keeping my car, I'll need new summer tires at a minimum.

Anyone elses XM show stuff like this?

I think sometimes XM database just goofs up on data on album covers, happened to me many times in the past.

Anyone has tried to get trade-in quotes lately? not really looking to trade, but getting curious.

I had a dealer contact me to try and get me to trade in and pre-order a 2022. After talking to me for a few minutes he didn't even give me a quote - he told me to keep my truck until at least 2023!

Not sure even how that makes sense............... I hear all these wild offers down in the states, and not sure if the phenomenon has taken place here too, the GMC dealer near me has 4 cars in inventory, last time I went there back in 2019 they had 200.

3 new tundras on my dealer’s lot, 1 with a sale pending. Pricing is insane too. I saw a 2018 SR5 with 130,000kms on it listed for $46k. It sold too…

    What doesn't make sense?

When I spoke to the dealer and shared some of the mods I had he said "keep it - that's an awesome truck". It became a human to human conversation vs just dealer to seller. We ended up talking about the 2022 and he shared some of his concerns about first year models, the twin turbo V6, etc.

But with that said, prices are up, but not at the level of in the USA where people almost trade across for a new truck.

    A bunch
About a month ago I tried one of those 'sell your car' things you find online and a dealer gave me an offer of $37k without seeing my truck or asking any details, just based on 2016 TRD OR with 76k kms. That's up from $31k a year ago I would have gotten on trade.

With the ~20% increase in vehicle prices the trade in increase is just in line and you really don't come out ahead, but if you're looking just to sell it's still a pretty decent time.

The part where he said keep your truck, figure they need trade-ins.

Those moments are rare and brings joy to me as well.

My curiosity got the best of me, my Toyota dealer straight up told me keep the truck as is for now, he can give good trade but the wait for new truck is going to be long.

They have 26 deposits already on the Pro and they can't even guaranteed pricing or options, for comparison, they get on average 10 pros a year.

Yeah, the Edmonton area jumped from 1.21 to 1.41. CBC mentioned it on the radio on Tuesday afternoon but they were very casual about it, thinking it was one rogue station or something like that. I filled the Corolla because I was out anyway and it was down to a quarter tank. Now I regret not filling the truck, too. This half tank is going to have to last me a while, I guess.

Here too. They jumped 12 cents a litre here. 130 to 142

Normally they wait until the day or two before the Long Weekend, but did it a full week early for this one.

Costco is always cheaper but, long-term, having a membership won't save me money unless I can somehow hide that fact from my wife.

Gas Buddy says 129.9 at the Costcos around here.

The gas prices were a bit of a shock, after disappearing into the hills SE of Fox Creek for a week moose hunting. Last fill up was 120.9. Come out and it’s 143.9. I can’t believe the last few months of inflation haven’t been more of a hot potato for the powers that be. ☹️:censored:

Anyways, it was good to get away. Bad to come back. Haha.
