Awesome thats great to hear - great to support a local company! I am trying to weigh the cost of waiting to get till next time I'm in edmonton against the likelihood that someone sees the opportunity steal a shiny new cat between now and then!

I drove up to see him, it was an easy drive didn't take all that long and it is worth the money to drive rather than to ship.

    Howdy!

I’m actually heading down to Calgary next week and can bring one down with me. What version of truck were you looking for?

I'm Picking up a 2023 Tundra Ltd TRD OR (non-hybrid) on Friday.

That works out super perfectly! we can DM details - should i go ahead and order online and then put as "for pickup"?

You bet, just order online for local pickup and I’ll bring it with and we can coordinate.

    Thanks!

Anyone with a gen 2 install one of these shields? I'd like to know if they raised the trans temp?

I have a 2018 and have had it installed for about a year. I also tow regularly in the summer a travel trailer that is at the top end of the Tundra happy place.

First this product is well made and the service is excellent. Recommended. Second, I have noticed the truck floor is possibly warmer at times. It’s also a bit louder at certain rpm’s but my ears are ultra sensitive to noises. These are common with adding any additional skid or guard under the truck and not specifically this design. Add more protection or close something in and ambient temp in the area increases.

I always monitor transmission temps while towing and I have not recorded any increase from the plates. However I am generally an S4 driver while towing that stays at or below the speed limit. Keeping the torque converter locked does more for keeping temps low on a stock gen 2.5 than anything else.

Thanks for the info. I have a 19, I installed a trans cooler and tow a 6,000lb trailer in the summer. I suspected their would be some increase but sounds like not a huge one which is good to know. What do you use to monitor the temps with?

I use a Verpeek OBD adapter from Amazon together with the OBD Fusion app on my iPhone. There is a thread on this site that has all the info to pull temps for the transmission and torque converter as well as a TC lockup display.

Depending on where you are in Alberta, there are lots of members who would be willing to show you what the plates look like under the truck so you can see before you buy. Plus, they are made in Edmonton.

Hey thanks for the kudos and details on the temperature issue and I agree with your points.

@sask3m if you come to the conclusion you'd like to purchase a plate for your truck, I do have them in stock and they are currently on sale as well. Feel free to PM me with any additional questions.

    Cheers,
