How did it get better? I'm just curious what you mean by that.

I used the Carista to remove the fake engine noise, back seatbelt dings from child car seats, and lowered the A/C temp.

Well worth the cost of the unit and subscription price. I need to look at a couple of more settings before the 30 days is up.

It won't matter, we will just put it on high. Will blow the same temperature.

    I also added these
    - Lane change from 3 blinks to 5
    - Long press unlock and all windows go down and sunroof opens

It blows colder so its easier to maintain the desired temperature with less fan. It seemed that prior tp changing it, the AC had to be working overtime with the fan wailing away just to try and keep up. Now it just idles like it should...gets colder and maintians with less effort

I agree the seat fans and AC noise is loud.

But it doesn't actually blow colder. The temp of the air coming out does not change. You are correct about the fan though.

Depending on what the setting is on. My truck cools off quicker with the temp set at warmer than previous with 20% fan operation

Because the fan is working differently. So just like a home ac, the temp blowing out is based on the temp going in. It's not like the actual air blows colder because you changed a setting. Don't get me wrong, I made the same change, but it doesn't work like people seem to think. For a home ac, it is in spec as long as the return (where the air goes in) is within a certain margin of temp (14-20 degrees F) of what is coming out of the strongest vent. So if the air is going in at 100, the as long as it's blowing out colder the 85-80 degrees it is right. Adjusting the thermostat does not make the air colder, it just makes the air blow longer.

You’re correct for the home system. A 21-25° degree delta is common on todays systems. But in todays vehicles there’s the hot and cold sides of the air flow separated by a plenum (a big air flap/valve) it blends hot and cold air to get the desired output temp. I’m only guessing, but this change made via Carista is probably closing the plenum more to the hot side (cutting off more hot air) hence allowing more cold air output. This plenum method gives finer control of the output temp vs just cycling the AC on/off like at home. It also eliminates the hot water valve that was a common failure point in old vehicles. Hot water flows through the heater core all the time.

So did this happen to anyone else? I had bought the veepeak and used the carista app. I had done the one year that had a free week. I cancelled the subscription by the end of the week and I have not used it since. This was probably 3 weeks ago. I had an error and plugged it in tonight and realized I was still able to customize and everything else the subscription did in the 1 week trial. I double checked that I had cancelled and that I was never charged. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with it, but just curious if it happened to anyone else.

I believe that's only if you buy the carista. I am 99% sure it was one week.

You can see the customizations without a sub, but you cannot push any of them through. If you can actually change something after canceling your subscription then you got lucky.

Yep this happened to me too. I was able to turn off the rear seatbelt chimes after I cancelled and the trial was over

06418 here if anyone around is interested.

Just signed up with Carista for a 7day trial. Modded everything I wanted using old Vgate OBD2 reader I bought for like $15 years ago on ebay, i.e. all 5 sits dings, lane change to 5, doors open/close, steering wheel and sit adjustment when existing.

Mods - Retrax Pro XR tonneau cover - Fumoto valve - Tundra and TRD Pro badges - Rear differential breather relocation - OEM dash cam - OEM console safe - Custom bedside decal - Door and console compartment liners - Forward bed rail relocation - Added bike thru-axle locking mounts - Rhino cross bars - Light bar in lower grill - Front and rear door sill protectors - Auxbeam 8-button switch panel and fuse panel (GB80) - Top of tailgate “Tundra” overlays (solar octane) - Tailgate handle “Toyota” overlays (solar octane)
Forgive my ignorance, I was looking at the Carista website. They only show that the device is applicable for a 2nd gen. Does one device cover all applicable vehicles or do you have to buy one specific to a Tundra. TIA.

The vehicle listing when you buy it doesn't matter. I bought a veepeak on Amazon for a ten dollars cheaper and did the 1 week trial for carista

Are theses specific to a manufacturer or one size fits all?
Amazon doesn't seen to carry it any longer...
Carista site states tundras 2nd gen, no option for 3rd...

So can someone tell me if all these scan tools will clear out a limp mode malfunction?

I ask because... I've read in other threads that if you allow the 3rd gen to run out of fuel it automatically goes into limp mode. The fuel gauge on my 23 is completely ridiculous. With no rhyme or reason it just shows an arbitrary value and I'd like to be prepared on the day when it truly goes empty.

Does using this product and changing settings have any effect or reason they could use to void a warranty?

Do you know if they’ve changed the options in the Carista app? I just got the Carista obd2 adapter and the app on my phone with the one month trial and under the customize tab here are my options

And you were able to turn off the fake v8 noise? Which section was it in? I don’t see it anywhere and all the videos I find for the 3rd gen tundra are showing more options then what I have shown on those two screenshots

Does your truck meet the criteria of being a CrewMax with the JBL sound system?
The DoubleCab with JBL will not have that option.
The CrewMax without JBL will not have that option.

Just got Carista, turned off the fake V-8 noise, seat belt chime drivers side and adjusted the A/C to -2C.
How quite it is now, that will change as soon as I get my Dirty Deeds exhaust.

Sorry I take back my comment. Mine has an engine chassis option. Like another user said, if you don't have the jbl system in your truck, you don't have the fake engine noise.
