So did my thing today it ended up real nice. Made myself an aluminum bracket so that I could lower the fork mount and clear the rolling cover. Painted it black.
    2FB26920-0A65-4C35-923B-98AAB4365A78.jpg

Bolted a Yakima blockhead to it. And made some brackets with thread to slide behind the rail and bolt it all.
    8666BB64-3934-492C-81F4-4C15EC5F2B7F.jpg

End result! A solid Lowered fork mount with enough space to clear the sliding cover.

With a canopy on my bed, I have several layers of cardboard and I lay my MTB in the bed, chain side up. Lock my canopy and tailgate and it's the most secure way to transport a bike.

I have a Thule and Saris platform double bike racks. But those racks stay on my Land Cruiser and 4runner.

Depending on how the bike is set it can be rough on it. A bike laying on its side, can be rough on the crank and crank bearings. If your hitting bumps in the truck it could be worse. I’m only saying this because I own a very expensive bike haha

^Agreed. No way am I laying my "nice" bikes on their side....they cost way to much money. I transport them as you would a motorcycle...straps and racks.

I just run a cable and padlock from one of the box tie downs and wrap the frames. Haven’t had any issues yet. Thieves want a grab and go. Anything to slow them down helps. I park in open, lighted areas too.

Made my rack using PVC. Anchor it down using bungee, then sometimes use the straps to secure everything.

Well, if you buy a cheap $3000 bike then fine, throw it in the back, but not a good one.

I was serious, I have 2 bikes that I would lay in the back of a truck if I had too (I don't), the other 9, I would not carry them "improperly".

I think for most of us, $3000 would be considered a good one. :(

I look at it this way, I get out of them what I put into them :muscleflexing: and it's still cheaper than bass fishing.

Agreed. I tend to shell out more for things I invest a lot of time in.

I bought the INNO rail rack system on Amazon. The price was good and the quality is decent. I wasn't going to pay $107 for Yakima RoundBars so bought some 6 ft. sections of galvanized pipe from Lowe's and put quite a few coats of PlastiDip to get them up to the desired size. You'd never know the difference at a glance. The rack is a Yakima Aeroraptor. One bike pictured but the bars have no problem holding 4 when the whole family is there.

I'd like to see this set up a bit more closely if you have better pics and / or a description. I am new to the biking world and am considering different modes of transport with a bedcover. Thanks!!

I made some racks that fit my bedrack, the rear tire tray adjust to fit different bikes. Ill be adding a fork mount that's tied into the front tire scoop soon!

Have been working great so far.
