CompuStar remote start/control

Can you elaborate on reliability? I had it on my wrx in the past and loved it. What alternative would you recommend?

 

I don’t have an alternative. I didn’t like the other options on the market and this is better than not having it at all. That said, my remote control’s battery lasts days on a charge. Either it’s faulty or it sat on the dealer’s shelf for a very very long time. The proximity unlock has never worked. And on a handful of occasions, the system has triggered unexplainable vehicle alarms and starts or stops.

 

Hate to say it but sounds like install issue. You may want to try a different installer.

 

Definitely install issue. I have the same system compustar dc3 brain with dronemobile. I even have the 2way remote but decided not to connect it since i have dronemobile.
Unlock proximity works just like normal. Nothing out of the ordinary. Yes, you need to flash it correctly for your truck using a pc. Change the settings accordingly to your needs.
Yes, i did the install myself. I had this exact system on our previous 2017 sequoia, then took it off and put it in this truck. Works great for me.

 

The lcd remotes are batteries hogger for sure. They never last long at all.

 

The installer has looked at it twice and insists it's wired correctly. I plan to try one other installer, but I have my doubts it's an installer problem. This was also a CompuStar Pro-certified installer.

are you using the ezgo II add on proximity unlock module?
If it’s not the install error then it is a product error. See if there is warranty you can claim on it. Either the EZGO module is wacky or your main DC-3 brain is wacky.

 

I definitely take it to another installer. I’ve had mine installed with DroneMobile and had no issues with it other than when Compustar had errors with firmware that they fixed. Proximity locks work as they should. Had mine for almost 2 years.
