The only thing that I would take into consideration is the new technology on the 2019. I was told by a Toyota salesman that they have received internal letters from Toyota about NOT lifting the new Tundras. I know many people on here have done it successfully, but I would research that before you do anything. You have a Platinum and considering the extra cost from the dealer...it is not that much in the grand scheme of things. My $.02

Every dealer is different which sucks. I have 3 by me. One will install lifts before you buy and warranty everything. Another will install after the fact and warranty everything as long as you bought it from them. The last one is anti-lift and if anything goes wrong the lift did it.

if the dealer can bill toyota for warranty work, why would they ever deny stuff...?

Went to another Toyota dealer in town. They quoted $650 for installation of all parts and alignment.

A friend recommended a local custom shop and they quoted $585. They also said they doubted any calibration required for any sensors on a 3” lift, but we will see.

Obviously I’m undecided on doing it myself vs having a shop do it. I would be interested to know if any of you guys lifted a ‘19 without sensor problems.

Probably going to let this dealer do it for the peace of mind. I’ll post the results.

No problems with my 18’. I didn’t have any issues prior to the lift either though.

The install is not that bad. The trick is to mark your cam bolts position and then loosen them a bit. This will free up the LCA enough to drop it low enough to get the coil assembly out and new in. Just tighten back to the marks as best you can after. It will get you good enough to drive to get the alignment

Not an option for me since my dealer will not install a lift on a 2018 due to possible TSS issues (their claim, not mine).

So what is the deal with the TSS issues? Are they real? I want to put on an 8" lift and a little concerned.

Yes they are real for some. The sensors aren’t designed to be adjusted past 3-4” from stock height. It’s luck of the draw on whether you’ll have issues or not with 8”.

Then what happens? Just live with the issue?

Yea. Pretty much. Toyota won’t touch it or help if you have issues after an 8” lift.

Those prices are insanely low! In my area, I wouldn't trust the dealers(Checkered Flag or Priority) to remove a lug nut off my truck let alone do a lift install. The local Toyota dealers are completely incompetent, they do not understand the first things about mechanics and logical thinking. My experience is 2018 4RUNNER and my Tundra, where I had to get back to each dealer (more than 5 times) for simple services that they could not perform (such as oil change, tire rotation, maint light reset). I am afraid to even go anywhere near a lift work on my truck or my 4Runner that is performed by any local Toyota dealer. The price for a 6112/5160 2" lift with shackles at a local off-road shop was around $1500 not including alignment. Furthermore, none of the local off-road shops will even talk to you if you don't buy the part from them at a higher price. So overall, your prices at the dealer or local shop are super cheap based on my area price and competencies.

Toyota says you can lift up to 3” without issue. So if something goes wrong they will fix it. Anything past that then they will say the 8” lift caused the issue.

Basically they need to prove that the lift caused it or you need to prove it didn’t. Most dealerships play nice. But some hide behind everything.
