24 with less than 600 miles and my weep hole is wet with fresh oil. Bad rear main seal? Does toyota have a fix for this? Im gonna take to dealer this week

 

Look at the crossmember, it looses a considerable amount of oil.

 

Yea that pic was 2 days after I first noticed and wiped it clean the first time. Seems like alot for only 2 days later (no more than 50 miles)

 

Go to dealer.

 

No worries. That is the new solution from Toyota to get the debris out of the motor. Just add more oil until your dealer fixes the leak.

 

I've heard that gen3 frames rust less, too. Must be a reason for that, right?

 

I'd say so ... hopefully dealership doesn't rag wrench it, shove something up the weep hole and send it

 

Hybrid or non-hybrid? I have had a small amount of oil coming from the weep hole as well. First noticed at the 500 mile oil change and i'm currently at 12k.

I took it in to Toyota and had them take a look. After we determined it was very likely the rear main weeping, I requested they leave it alone and simply document it at the time (service report simply states dealer will monitor leak for any progression & address leak if necessary). Mine is not leaking quite that bad, and has not dripped onto the ground below. Currently, the leak is all but gone, and yes there is oil in the engine

My thing was, if it isn't leaking much, and I have a 100k mile warranty thru Toyota, I'd rather them not yank the transmission and potentially cause another issue. If it starts dripping on the ground, or gets any worst I will certainly have the seal replaced. Now with the recall, there is a good chance much more than the seal will be getting replaced

I do understand that would not be the choice of action for most. For my situation, it seemed like the most logical course of action at this time.

 

Its a 24 Limited 4x4 non-hybrid. Less than 600 miles. Some say its extra oil from assembly and it will go away. Some say its bad rear main seal. At the end of the day I am still going to take it in to get checked. I wiped it, 2 days later are the pics i posted

 

My '15 Camry XSE had oil seepage (FIPG failure) from front bank cam carrier while under warranty and I did not want Toyota tearing into it. 147K miles later she's still fine.

 

Reminds me of "The world is going to end" on the 5.7 cam tower leaks.
