I find the sound super subtle and hardly noticeable.

I've shown you exactly where in TS it is.
...you'd think Toy tech would be well versed in TS and available options than any one of us here.

    Weird.

yep, you sure did… I printed all of that and included it when I went to pick up the truck… they did it all when I was still in finance, an as I was leaving is when they told me they did the windows but couldn’t find the “w/o sunroof” option… didn’t have time to sit and argue…

dang… ok… still might pick one up and see what I can do to the wife’s Corolla also…

I prefer the sweet sound of those twin turbos spooling up.

I jumped on their site last night and looked into the example options for the wife's 16 Corolla... I don't know how many options there normally are in addition to the examples, but doesn't look like it would be worth the investment for us, as the examples given were mainly for trims above hers...

Have you compared it to a Tundra with it turned off? There is a very noticeable difference, at least on my 22 Plat. The sound may be deceiving you, what you think is the engine noise is not at all.

I finally got my DC Limited and was prepared to be annoyed by the sound, but I guess the Limited doesn't have it? I do have the JBL stereo and I thought that was when you got the engine sound. I had test driven a 1794 and instantly noticed it so I'm pretty sure I don't have it.

Same here! I thought it was weird that I couldn't find the option in TechStream to disable it, but I found that I definitely don't have it, but I'm no complaining!

It actually sounds fine without. Fake engine sounds are super common these days.
Same here. No complaints from me. I can even hear a bit of turbo whistle. I think it sounds better than the Ford Ecoboost, though no V6 ever sounds great.

Being that I've added TRD air filters and a Carven muffler, my turbos are a bit louder than stock and I can absolutely hear them, so I'm glad I only hear the real sound of my truck! It is a deeper sound than most V6s but I'm happy with it.

The SES (fake engine noise) is only on JBL Crew Max trucks, those of us with DCs - Don't Care for it and we don't have it...

I bought the Carista and the option to disable was there for me. As I understand it the engine noise comes with the Limited Trim and JBL speaker combo and trims above limited. I guess it may not be available on double cabs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just went to the dealer for 5k service and recalls and they didn't even blink when I asked them to change several things in techstream.
No driver side seat belt ding. Windows roll down with fob and engine noise off.

Axel bolts were at spec btw.

For those with the Carista app, can you permanently disable BSM and Rctc? I think I took out a rear BSM sensor and don’t care to replace it but you have to manually disable it every time you start up the truck if you don’t want to look at the flashing errors.

Sorry if this has been asked before but thinking about buying Carista to make adjustments with trial period that comes with it. Question is, does the Carista do anything without the subscription, like the Blue Driver for example? I have one of those and would sell if Carista does the same without a subscription.

    Thanks in advance

I only notice it getting onto the interstate. My friend with a 2.5 gen said "it even sounds great" right before I told him it was augmented/fake engine noise. So to those who don't know it works. I chuckle every time I hear it now.

I did notice while on a phone call and I accelerated on the on-ramp it didn't give the fake engine noise. 2023 14" screen with JBL if that matters.

For me, I prefer having the audio feedback for amount of throttle being used. I've been driving for 30 years so having sound is normal and good for me. With all the sound-proofing and engine technology today, it could be a completely quiet cabin if they wanted. I for sure would NOT buy a vehicle like that.

Younger generations who didn't live through the 80s/90s vehicles may not care as much. For younger people, a silent car may be completely normal.

To me this is a giant head fake by the manufacturer! Reminds me of the old days when my 5 year old son was in his little peddle car making engine sounds. I don't get it... what's wrong with the sound of a Turbo 6 cylinder?

A Turbo Porsche 911 sounds just fine to me!

I don't need to ask. I know mine has it for sure. Wish there was an option within settings to turn it off.

All car manufacturers have been doing this for some time. Hell, I had a 2015 Mustang 5.0 liter V8 and they still piped in engine noise.

Its not in the settings but take it back to the Dealership and ask them to turn it off, most dealerships do this for free and if yours does not try a different dealership. I had mine turned off and I like it off much better.

Where can I download the latest TechStream software? I have an old version that does not support my 23 Tundra.
