I've had the combo for about a year now and I still like it but there are a few things that could be done better. With my current usage commute/family hauling the tonneau is 95% or mote of what I use, however, for the rare times I want the topper it's great to be able to just put it up and keep the weather off the stroller, suitcases, etc. I haven't see much water in the bed when the topper's been up (driving for hours in the rain on the interstate) just a streak of water on each side of the bed that could be from the corners of the topper or could be coming through the corners of the bed itself. It's a soft top I wouldn't count on it keeping every bit of water out, for sensitive things I'll do some secondary water proofing (trash bags) before putting it directly on the metal bed. If there's enough non sensitive things to for a layer I just put the backpacks and bags on time and don't worry about trash bags.
I did get the mesh window and the clips to roll up the sides but haven't used them yet, the house bear (dog) usually just rides in the back and hairs up the cab.
All of my issues with the combo kit are nit picking details that could have been better: For the removable front and back windows (or screen) there is no center line marked that would make velcroing them together much easier. The long bar that keeps the tonneau done at the tail gate doe not fit tightly and there's about a 1inch gap between the cover and the tailgate (there might be adjustments that I just haven't done yet). The instructions were rather poor, the hardware kit had to many long bolts and not enough shorter bolts I had to get a few more shorter ones at the hardware store.
My opinion overall is that it's a good product made with quality materials and good engineering for the structure I just would like some of the fit and finish details were more refined.

Any updates on how you like it 3 years later? I'm thinking about going with the Solo to have more storage space and appreciate Fastop's roll bar tailgate versus the Softopper velcro solution.

It’s still working great! Although I use it 90% of the time as a tonneau. But going on vacation or moving my daughter a few weekends ago I put the softopper up.

Definitely glad that I went with it. Also added a decked drawer system and the topper still fits under the cover.

I just pulled the trigger over the weekend on the traveler. Anybody order one recently? Curious if the 4 - 6 week lead time is actually the case. Hoping to get it before October.

I did. Was about $300 cheaper with their 10% code for new members and free shipping than going through Fas-Topper directly.

    Hey reference your decked system...

Did you end up w/the previous or current generation?? And did you need to remove/replace the OE tie downs on the corner w/their parts?

I purchased the first gen used off Craigslist. I think I paid like $300 for it. Whatever price it was a steal considering they sell for $1500 new.

I used whatever hardware came with the used decked system and did not have to change anything on the truck.

for those that have the traveler, do you have any tips on keeping water out? I bought the seal kit and am having a ton of water getting in through the front of the bed along the bed rail and also in the corners. I have added additional weather stripping in the corners in addition to the seal along the front rail. Getting some in the back corners towards the top, looks like it is coming in the upper corner then running down the metal tube. Its a little frustrating as it didnt take much to keep my Extang Trifold water proof.

Strange, I added no additional weather stripping or seals and I have almost zero water entry.

do you have a spray in liner or still have a plastic? I know with a spray in liner there is a gap between the fastop rail and top of the bed because you no longer have the thickness of the plastic liner, but its not that much and the weather stripping should more than make up for that.

I also have/had a huge problem with the top of the tailgate leaking. I took the weather stripping that was supposed to go around the tailgate and put it on top of the tailgate to seal that massive gap between the fastop bar and top of tailgate. It works, but is almost too tight now, making it a little hard to open and close the tailgate...pretty much have to slam it hard.

There is a flap of excess material on both clamp bars(front and back), this is supposed to be folded under correct? If so, the water just follows that up underneath the clamp rails

I have a spray in bedliner. It’s been awhile since I installed mine, but I don’t remember doing anything special and have had barely any water getting in. Maybe some up around the zippers when the soft top is up. But nothing when it’s the tonneau cover.

I also have nothing on my tailgate. Do you have pictures I can compare mine to?

I dont, but actually, going back to the picture you posted, yours appears to have a flap on the back that covers the tailgate opening. Mine does not have that at all. Does yours have a flap at the front also?

Took this pic of the Fas-Top website but you can see it just a tiny flap that folds under. The water basically just follows this around and under to inside the bed.

This is with the tonneau on. I do have a foam strip that runs the front of the bed. I also have the plastic caps on the sides of my bed, but the bed itself is spray lined. As you can see from the photo of my bed it’s completely dry and that’s with 7+ days of rain here in VA. The tailgate area has a small flap when in tonneau version but when I put up my tailgate it tends to get push back. But I still get no water entry. IMG_1984.jpg IMG_1985.jpg IMG_1986.jpg

interesting. Looks about the same as mine. I have no idea why I am getting so much water then. I shot them an email to see what they had to say.

@BoysandHisToys was that foam strip from Fas-Top or did you get your own? I may try a different weather strip. I had a Rectangular Foam strip on my Extang that worked really well. May need to just try a different weather strip.

I honestly don’t remember. I did have a Truxedo tonneau cover on there from a previous owner. If I’d had to guess, that was already there and I just left it when I put on the FasTop.
