Can you really not use the seatbelt and the armrest at the same time with that set up? I always thought that console looks uncomfortable. I like my bench seat.

I haven’t had any issues with using the seatbelt with the arm rests. The only thing I wish was that the arm rests sat a little lower.

I don’t have anything to add to this topic other than I’m shocked how many people own Tacos and the small size doesn’t bother them and how the ‘22 Tundra crowd doesn’t hate the smaller size too. FGT’s are the best but I’m partial

I will agree with the console gripes, they are too low.

If FGT 4x4 could be had with MT then 3rd gen Taco would have less appeal to me. But I actually like my DBSC ‘16 for different reasons than my RCLB ‘02.

I mean, I have more than one bicycle…

I will report back once the suspensions are done on both trucks. It’s a bit unfair comparing old soft SR5 to new soft OffRoad. Since I got the same shocks and both will have Deaver leaf packs, it’ll be a more valid comparison on driving.

Ditto, haven't had any issues with seat belt.

He says too high, you say too low, I say not wide enough. I think the height is just about right, but constantly find myself using the center console as the armrest versus the actual armrest.

Mine has the gypsy ass console that doesn't go all the way to the center stack. It looks like somebody bought it at Walmart and threw it in there. I grabbed a full console from the junkyard to put in it, but my dad likes the one it has. Think I honestly favor the bench setup.

Picture from the inter webs of what mine looks like:

Thats how mine is, i prefer it over the full length center console the sequoia had, but kinda wanna swap in a cloth bench seat.

The guy in that video was a big boi. I bet his midsection was blocking the seatbelt/armrest.

Makes sense now. I have the same center console as the Sequoia, basically same as the one shown in the video.

This will sound pathetic but from back to back driving I have these “complaints” about what I miss after switching. Mind you, I love my trucks.

    1GTundra:
    Turning radius (3GTaco way better)
Parking in crowded lots (backup camera helps some but width is a factor too, noted I’m in a fairly urban location
Steering wheel (skinny) and audio controls (hence my obsession w wheel replacement). Taco wheel feels way better to me.
Have to build my own tow harness (would be happy to spend on an OEM plug and play option) but I have nothing to tow right now anyway. Junkyard or eBay may be an option till I can build my own.
Can’t buy a bed mat so I get black hands / knees when I crawl in the back because mine is 20 years old. The curse of RC.
Tailgate lowering with MH lid. Thud is an understatement. Fixable.

    3GTacoma:
Low rpm torque / no balls till it revs, need to tune someday, just wish it drove smoother in gramps mode
Hit my knee on the dash getting in, hit my head on stuff sometimes, I’m very average sized and the truck isn’t compact.
5’ bed was barely a trunk with the tonneau, with a shell it’s ok for some stuff but small for even a bicycle, so more likely to use a hitch rack for that. With my FGT back, if T4R were an option in MT and v8, Taco would be gone. But then again I don’t like paying more than 30k for a vehicle and with todays prices, buying used is extra dumb.

    Both:
Fuel economy is not fantastic but I knew this and I don’t really care. One day I hope to do at least one EV conversion.
Rear / side visibility with the shell on kinda sucks but I also knew this. That is partially addressable with rear quarter cameras as the PAC can switch up to 4 and can do the sides off turn signals. RAV4 mirrors help a lot in the Tacoma, wish we had awesome looking mirror options for FGT.

    PROs
    Highly moddable platform
    Excellent reliability
I think both look cool but I’m an odd dude.

I was thinking the same thing. They seem like great guys but it's clear they don't always do much research. They had trouble remembering which engine hit 1M miles.

Agreed. I didn't make it very far in that video. If you don't know anything stats about the truck, that's fine; talk about something that I can't read everywhere.
