Yep, not expensive even with 2 DUI's.
My truck, VR4, and my bike are all around $1100 for full coverage and $10k extra for parts for the year from progressive.

    Clean record otherwise

Same here. I had $8,300 in replacement value added to my truck in 2019. At that time it only added $166/year to my premium. I had to send them pictures of the truck and add up the modifications I've done to it.

I did this because I saw a few members truck get totalled and they were trying to fight their insurance to give them more for all the extra money they had sunk into their truck. It doesn't work that way. They are going to pay book value unless you itemize and add extra coverage.

Do they though? Take a look at the 35 mph offset crash test. The FGT goes 3/4 of the way into the engine bay while the Taco goes right to the firewall. I’d have to take a closer look at the leg/knee injuries to compare.

I would think the Taco is much better at crash avoidance. Personally I like the bigger frame of the FGT over the Taco.

State-mandated, unfortunately. However, if you're rich enough, and you can prove you could pay out of pocket adequately, you can get an insurance waiver in many states.

I used to pay once a year, forever, always and then my company started with the bi-"anal" schedule, I hate that, but they're still the best price so I do it. I think they've all gone to that so they can jack up the rates twice a year, but my point is, here in Calif. everything cars is crazy expensive, like dmv and registration cost, fuel (still over $6.00 /gallon) except insurance, it still can be reasonable with a decent track record. I guess it all evens out in the end.

I didn't have full coverage until right before we went on our 4000 mile road trip. Think I'll probably just keep it now as I don't think it added a whole lot to the cost overall.

Hmmm...this is a good point. I'll have to look into it. I have two cars that are worth way more than book value (Tundra and Land Cruiser), and maybe my 4Runner too.

Yep and 0.00 deductible on all 3, just doesnt cost that much more at end of day. Uninsured Motorist add on can save ya too and costs like 1.50 a month or something on my policy. Worth the security

Indeed. One of the worst 'systems' in our modern civilization. Massively pervasive and destructive to everything it touches. Auto liability is the only insurance I have, since dictated by law. People always ask me questions about my rather unique house and I tell them its the simple result of not having insurance on it. Instead of spending tens of thousands of dollars on home insurance, I spend the money on hardening the house itself against the kind of things people insure houses against. Just imagine how much better the world would be if nobody could insure anything and had to actually, physically, make things safer instead of just paying a bill?

I have full insurance on mine ~1100 a year. When I bought the truck, I feel like adding comprehensive was only a couple hundred a year.

sounds like we need a house photo thread.

1100 a year would have cost me more than what I paid for my truck by now so I'm already ahead since I drive like I only have liability insurance as well.

Well, I don't want to de-rail more than I already have, and I've posted extensively on other forums on the past about my house, and regretted it when people started calling me up wanting to make some sort of arrangement to 'come to your place when the apocalypse comes'.

But I'll give you a little peek just to get the idea:
