I planned on getting these for both the Sienna and the Tundra but on the Sienna, the access cover basically rubs on it. Too close to being damage if we high center something on the road so it's going on the Tundra next oil change. Love the design of it vs the Fumoto style.

Agreed. I bought a Toyota because of their build quality. If it grenades I'm sure they would make it right. Not worried about it. Only pan I've ever found anything to be worried about was my 450SMR when it was new, but it's basically a race bike with blinkers, and after it's initial self clearancing, has been clean for 16k miles while plenty of others just grenaded.

I'm gonna valve my 5.7 when it's done with free dealer changes.

I've seen a couple of ~20 y.o. very hot turbo engines pans. Nothing to see in there, only carbon deposits and cooked oil. Pans were fully functional.

I drive front left wheel on a ramp, so more oil drains from Fumoto. The rest I don't care about. Engine has more than a quart of old oil in oil cooler and camshaft valleys anyways. But my Toyota oil changes are mostly drop-free now. I drain filter housing dry with a long steel pipe right into an empty bottle, most times there's nothing to clean afterwards.

My point is that you have some crap and used oil in the bottom of the pan regardless of the Fumoto or not. I have done what I said above with both the fumoto and without, similar results.

There is a slot in the weld-nut in the pan to let as much oil drain as possible when you drain the pan using the drain plug. Any kinda valve that you screw into the pan is gonna leave some residual. I am not sure how much of a difference it makes. I use a Fumoto valve.

There is always some stuff left in the pan unless you remove the whole pan each time and wipe it out with a rag o_O

Quick oil change is all about your system. Post pics of your oil pan or container. I’m thinking of attaching a hose directly to a container for easy disposal but not sure which container to go with. Previously I’ve drained oil into a large catch pan and funneled the old oil into empty containers. It’s a PITA.

I posted in another thread as well, but is there any concern about the Fumoto valve not being magnetic to collect metal shavings (small) ? I ordered mine but am now having second thoughts versus just using the standard magnetic drain bolt.

No - I’m not concerned. I’ve been running a fumoto for about 75k miles and just did my first oil analysis at 100k miles. Everything looks perfect.

I didn’t think they were - only the rear diff is my recollection.

Would have been nice if Toyota points the drain plug straight down. My starts drawing fine into my drain pan but then after 1-2 qts it come out so fast it splashes on the passenger side tire and wheel and makes a huge mess. Seriously considering a Fumoto.

THIS is why I got one. I got the one with the nipple to put hose on it to direct the drain down into the pan. First time I drained the oil in my 2020 it got all over the tire, wheel, ramp, floor, etc. The Fumoto totally solved that. A 5 gal bucket under there is a pain if you use ramps or a jack IMO. Still have to tip it and worm it around jack stands, etc. to get it out. This way I can still use a flat pan, leave it under there and move to catch any drips while I'm filling, etc. and then drive off the ramps with it still sitting there.

I had one on my 2004 Ram before that with no problems, but wasn't going to install on on the Tundra until that first oil change. Get one and you'll be happy with it. Used them for 20 years now and never had a problem with them. Even put them on my ZTR mowers.

    Alot of them
It is not. Most auto manufacturers got rid of them due to the amount of people freaking out when they see them during an oil change.

I drain directly into the empty 1 gal oil jug left from a previous oil change. No jacking, just the driver's wheel on the ramp, for better pan flow. The filter housing is also drained directly to the bottle, I use a stainless steel tube of appropriate OD that goes into the plastic drain tool that comes with a new filter.

I've been using this ValvoMax quick drain plug that @TXTundra2722 recommended....its really nice and built like a tank. You screw on the big threaded knob with a hose attached and it pushes up a ball bearing to release the oil. Really easy and pretty quick to drain. No mess afterwards and the cap to cover it is solid.
I also use this oil drain tool for my oil filter to clear it out before I take it off

I got one of these too. I drain it right into a 2 gallon oil jug. No mess what-so-ever.

The Valvomax product looks very solid but I don’t think it’s been around very long relative to Fumoto so I question its long term reliability. I like the design of the Valvomax over the Fumoto though so I’m torn.

What's nice is if you want to go a step further.... they sell their own plastic jugs that attaches to the drain tube and other than lying the oil filter off.... you have no open/exposed oil to make a mess.

I only have experience with Fumoto but there is also the Stahlbus and the EZ Oil Drain Valve.

The valvomax/stahlbus style has been around forever. I had a votex valve on a cadillac CTS back in 2013 and put one on my Tundra after I bought it. I'm not a huge fan of the fumoto lever although I know it's reliable I just like this style better.
