Probably is, richer than 14.7 anyway. I think that's par for the course for engines when running in Open Loop, although the cats may be able to cope with some of it up to a point. But I was trying to convey that I was seeing soot belching from the tailpipe for a few seconds after firing up when I was having my long crank issue.

Here's a sample that I've posted before. What's dripping from the tailpipe is merely water, I had just washed it.

I’ve been pondering this idea for a while now. I have the trd pro with the fake hood scoop on top and been thinking of making it functional by cutting it open and allowing air into the engine bay. Would this be worth anything with lowering the engine bay temps?

We cut the hood bulge to let air in before he switched to the carbon. But it’s more of getting heat out

Those that used ram air hoods seen some lower temps. I would like to do a few more items to the truck and the vented carbon fiber hood is 3rd on the list.

Is there an install manual for the Whipple SCer?

I found the Maggie version, but my search skills are failing me for the Whipple.

No, I'm in the planning stages of getting a SCer, so doing all the research I can before I drop the coin.

    FYSA, for anyone interested...

I recently (last night) upgraded my OEM 26 gal tank to the TF 46gal tank. Not too bad of a process, just took a little bit of time. I took the opportunity to install a DW340 fuel pump... an upgrade from the 'assumed' 255 that comes with the magnuson kit. I'm running DW650 injectors and was leaning out around 5700rpms... with the leanest being 12.3 at 6200...yikes. So I upgraded, filled up the tank today, and drove around. Now I'm seeing 10.3 at redline and a pretty steady 10.5 throughout the whole PE band (expect for initial PE kicking in around 10.9).

Looks like my injectors can deliver enough fueling, but my 255 pump just wasn't cutting it. I'll have to log to see where my DC sits now, but the upgrade to the DW340 is the right move for me.

Side note... the transferflow 46 gallon tank is sweet. Not sure if anyone else here has taken the plunge, but between road trips and towing- it's going to be a game changer.

Based on emails from Whipple's email list their biggest discount is usually around Black Friday/Cyber Monday. If you are planning to work with an installer you might get discounts through them as well.

Don’t wanna be the “told you so” type but…

I’d love to have the 46 gallon tank myself, but the 38 gets the job done I suppose!

lol yeah I had a feeling. Just didn't want to drop the tank to 'test' the theory. Figured I would do so if I need a 'need' to drop the tank and have the fuel sender unit in my hand.

Ah yeah I wouldn't have upgraded to the 46 if I had the 38 already. But with the little 26 my truck came with and the extra power and lead foot, it doesn't last long. $180 at the pump for the first fill was less than ideal but it's two tanks in one I suppose... a months worth of gas!

Plus, with larger injectors and the larger tank, my DTE is fairly accurate again. Full tank reads 448 miles to empty. That should be about right!

I was thinking of picking up a TRD stock airbox up and making a 5 inch intake. I know the SC, like SCOL, airbox I can cut a 5 inch hole to accommodate a cone filter like 4firemandan setup. Just wasn't sure if the TRD is angled like the stock lid.
Thanks and Have a Happy weekend!

Truck runs flawlessly now.. when there’s more than a quarter tank… two times now that I hit between a quarter and empty, during WOT the truck would cut power for a second and come back and the logs shows my AFR jumps to 16+ and drops back down almost like the fuel pump shuts off and turns back on.. filled the tank up all the way and did another pull and it ran 11.5 the whole time. Anyone know what it could be?

As a rule of thumb, it’s best not to go WOT when the tank is below 1/3 or so especially when supercharged. The fuel is sloshing in the tank and running it dry for a brief moment. Did you drill holes in the basket when you hardwired the pump? If so, it makes the problem worse since the basket won’t be as full of fuel.

That happened to me when I cut holes in my fuel canister back in 2012 using an aeromotive stealth pump. If my tank got low and I did a pull it would cut out.
This doesn't happen to some one here. I changed to a pump that fit inside the canister without modifications. Problem solved...
In Aug of 23 I installed a FFV fuel canister with an walbro 450 model 267 as I went to larger braided fuel lines. No holes or modifications and it runs fine down to E with reserve in tank with stock FFV venturi as it larger than non-FFV canister.
I tried to have you go that route or use the Deatschwerks DW 300 pump hardwired before modifying the canister.

@mralanle I would be hesitant increasing your SC psi with 11.5 afr. You have no room for error if your afr leans out while your at wot. Has your tuner tried increasing the injector constants to get more fuel dumped? I recently had an issues where I couldn't get it richer and increasing the injector constants helped.

Well, that’s my fault then. I told my mechanic to drill holes with the 274 but later on I decided to buy the Prospeed lines and rails and I thought since Prospeed offers it with the 267 I might as well buy it.. forgot to tell him to never mind on the hole drilling. Lesson learned to just listen to you guys lol. I’m planning on upgrading to the 38 gallon tank soon anyways so I’ll buy another canister

Even with a DW pump and zero holes in the basket, mine will lean out right before a shift at 1/4-1/3 tank of fuel. Just have to keep the tank full.

Oh man...especially when your getting so many suggestions. And just like @VWTim just stated he does not have holes drilled and has the same experience as you.
