depending on your region, some regions required that to get the hud you had to get the avs package and vice versa. for MY24, they removed the requirement to to get avs and hud package. and they renamed the option code for AQ to a new one to reflect the disconnect now.

edit : on MY23 the hud was part of the AQ package. on the MY24 the hud has its own option code of "HU" now

Definitely cool on an old GTO or Pontiac Firebird but no so practical on the outside of the hood. Too far to read properly and can't even see it in the winter with snow and ice all over it.

How often have you guys seen turn by turn navigation on the HUD? I can count on one hand.

Interesting. I'm using Android Auto and it does not show turn by turn on the HUD. Figured it was another way toyota was trying to keep me subscribed to their stuff.

Are you by chance using Apple Maps? I did a little more research and it appears that Apple Maps will show turn by turn on the HUD but Google maps or Waze doesn't. Not a big deal for me, just curious why one thing works and another doesn't.

Thanks. Mystery solved for me. I'll now go back to staring at my radio knob waiting for it to fall off.

as stated, this is not accurate.

I use apple map and the turn by turn shows up mostly in the multi informational display but almost never in the HUD. Are you saying every time you do directions it shows them in the HUD? Does your lane keep assist and radar show up in your HUD?

I use only Apple Maps. Almost never shows up for me.
