Woke up to another day without power restored. Monday afternoon til now... And our restoration ETA got pushed back to Monday.

County leaders need to step up and ask questions - this is unacceptable. I know for a fact Entergy no longer does tree trimming and clearing out of lines. Cheaper to fix issues when they arise. Now see how that's worked out

4-days later I finally have power. Now I need to haul 24 trees to the ditch so the county can pick them up.

Good heavens, 24..... maybe consider making a log cabin/parking garage for the Tundra and vehicles?

Vegetation management is a catch 22 for utilities, clear it and piss people off, don't clear it and piss people off when a storm hits. They are pressured by property owners, communities and agencies to not clear and preserve as much as possible. Texas has been shifting to a California mindset on clearing, which is disasterous (PG&E fires for example). I'm in the HV transmission line space (larger lines, 69kV-345kV+) and we still have the "blue sky" approach, clear it all until you see sky, but there is pressure to allow more vegetation growth in right-of-ways. It definitely isn't that way sub-transmission and distribution lines, they allow all kinds of grow-in.

Yep, I basically live in a forest and paid the price. Fortunately the county is getting FEMA relief funds and is going to pick up the debris. I'm not sure I even have enough frontage on the ditch to pile everything up.

If people had any common sense they would know not to plant an Oak tree, Pecan Tree underneath or next to transmission lines. It is a dam mess!! We have a few blocks that this should have never been allowed to happen. Big trees next to lines and of course they blew over and took out poles and lines, contractors and linemen had to come from all over the place to fix our mess!!! It’s disgusting!! Kind of like people living on the beachfront!! should not be allowed to get insurance and if you live there you fix it!! These people that let the trees grow into and around lines should have to pay for bringing everyone around them down!! Sorry there just has to be some accountability somewhere most expect someone to come and fix everything that you caused to break in the first place!!!

What happens is that we'll clear a ROW, saw 70' in width (35' on each side of centerline), then a 80' tree will be on the edge of it (but outside of it) will fall into into the lowest phases ~25-30' above ground. Those trees are called "danger trees" and since they fall outside of the ROW, are often not maintained. There are supposed to be routine inspections, but I've found the ROW guys never work out those agreements to get those trees outside of the ROW removed. Last years drought weakened and killed a bunch of trees, this storm finished them off.

A article was sent to me from the paper today and it stated that electricity might not be restored to places in Galveston County until the 22nd!!! I feel for those people and wish them the best. The longer the power is out the criminal element tends to rise in the search for things they want what you have!!!! At night it was pitch black out there, I took a thermal and stood outside looking to see what I could see! :)

our power was on as of last night but I just received a text and it said our power should be restored by Saturday!!
I had to do some running this morning and I went and found a caravan of trucks coming down the road, I stopped and got out of my car and thanked each one as they came past me, I only held up two others behind me,,, they did not seem to care much.

I was out with my AGM Taipan thermal on Wednesday. Didn't see any miscreants but did catch a flying squirrel.

One of our stores (an Arlan’s that was just sold) in town had power turn on yesterday. They lost everything refrigerated or frozen. It still does not smell good in the whole store, and they are still having to finish getting the bad stuff thrown out.

Stores, hospitals, law enforcement, and gas stations should never have to be without power,,,, only in extreme circumstances should they ever have to be without. Stuff like this really needs to be looked at and a solution needs to be found!
This is much work that needs to be done!:)

    No power here. Again.

And as of Thursday night, no internet either. Called the provider and they say it's because the modem got tired of using inadequate, inconsistent power from our generator. So I hooked up my other generator (inverter) and supplied power just to the modem...nothing.

Nada. They don't know why their crap isn't working. I've already scheduled a new provider lol I'm done with piss poor service right now

It belonged to my father, I'll get pics when I get back home, I'm out of town for work, but I when I acquired it, I did a carb change plug air filter and oil, it's an older model, but runs smooth and starts on first pull

I was going through modems because of storms. Came to find out that some models are very susceptible to damage on startup if the power goes out during its boot up. So I went and bought an APC UPS and it has virtually resolved the problem. Also provides “clean” power to it when on generator power and some backup power for an hour or so.

Supposedly, they went out and replaced modems in some other folks' houses and it didn't resolve the problem. Naturally, they concocted some BS to satiate their loyal customers. I've been with them since they first ran fiber here in 2021. Not anymore.

Yea, what ticks me off is AT&T knows this damages the modems (there is a sticker warning) and the modems have a spot for the battery, but don’t supply the battery.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    this.

if you run a genset - always run UPS's on your electronics

    Costco/Sam's has decent ones.

On generator power - when our A/C cycles, the UPS's will beep do to voltage drop.

We have power now. Noticed trucks on our street for the first time in days.

Not holding my breath though as I know others have had theirs go out again. The generator is waiting for more... But for the first time since Monday, all seems ok.

Just throwing this out there, use it or not, it is up to you.
    https://www.fema.gov/press-release/...nce-available-texans-affected-hurricane-beryl

I am not sure how long it will take, but looks like insurance would take precedent of FEMA payout.
Just in case if you have larger damages and/or vehicles/property damages, I guess wouldn't hurt to submit and try.
Oh, you can still try and submit for the tornado one back in April/May. Not sure whey they cut out.

EDIT: And just like that, just got notified that due to I have insurance, they are not paying for personal property damages, unless insurance is denying to pay for it. Again, YMMV. Luckily, my damages are minimum, mostly food, a couple of router setups and possibly a computer, but nothing too serious.

I don't think I'll ever earn that much so I guess I'm safe... Until they lower the bar to tax the lower income bracket
